The Eagles hit the road riding a five-game winning streak, but a hard-fought battle against the Bulldogs ended in a narrow 65-61 defeat. Despite the outcome, the Eagles learned some valuable lessons.
The opening quarter saw both teams trading baskets in a tightly contested matchup, with the Eagles edging Grandville 16-15. The 2nd quarter, however, proved to be a challenge as the Bulldogs caught fire from beyond the arc, scoring 19 points and taking a 34-30 lead into halftime. Defensive breakdowns on the perimeter were costly, but the Eagles never wavered.
Coming out of the locker room, the Eagles found some offensive rhythm, winning the 3rd quarter 15-11. Heading into the final quarter down 47-45, the Eagles showed some grit. However, mental errors in the 4th quarter proved costly, allowing Grandville to capitalized on their opportunities going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line down the stretch to secure the win 65-61.
Carl Thompson led the way with 20 points, continuing his strong season. Senior Tyler Davis delivered a standout performance, finishing with 19 points. Braylon Taylor chipped in with 12 points, contributing to the Eagles’ balanced offensive attack. We’ll use this as a learning experience to sharpen our focus as we prepare for the next challenge.
