The Varsity Eagles came out with fire on Tuesday night as they traveled to EGR, seeking revenge against a talented Pioneer team. Despite putting together a stellar performance, the Eagles came up just short in the end.
Charley Hassenrik set the tone early, exploding for 8 points in the first quarter and providing a much-needed offensive spark. She finished with 12 points, 6 steals, and 2 impressive blocks. Mags Cumming was her usual dominant self, leading the Eagles with the game-high 19 points, including 5 impressive three-pointers.
Rae Cummings made a strong impact as well, contributing 7 points and showing her defensive prowess with 3 steals and 4 rebounds. The Eagles’ rebounding effort was solid across the board, with Lydia Ydenberg and Lilah Poel each grabbing 6 rebounds, and Paige Ferwerda dominating the boards with a game-high 8 rebounds to go along with 4 assists.
Though the final score didn’t go their way, the Eagles played with heart and teamwork throughout the game, a performance they can certainly be proud of.
