Racing in cool conditions and under sunny skies on Saturday, the Eagles put on a display of focus and determination as they finished 4th at the State Finals.
Leading the way once again was senior Simon Triezenberg. Even a fractured foot couldn't prevent Simon from producing another All-State performance and finishing 24th in 15:44. The rest of the team followed his lead and also ran gutsy races. Senior Keegan Hoekstra consistently moved up throughout the race and finished 46th in 16:09. Freshman Ashton Fink continued his great rookie season and finished 74th in 16:29. Junior Micah Small stayed strong throughout the race and finished 85th in 16:33. Senior Zach Hartemink ran an amazing PR of 16:38 and finished 92nd. Freshman James Scholten-Holcomb was battling back from sickness early in the week to finish 156th in 17:17. Junior Sean Ryan also competed but was unable to finish the 5k course.
While only seven runners took to the starting line, the rest of the team brought an amazing amount of energy, excitement, and encouragement as they ran around cheering. They proved once again that we are better together!
Throughout the season, the Eagles have exemplified the values of hard work, determination, and teamwork. Day in and day out, they pursued their goal of honoring God. This journey has been a true blessing, and as the season comes to a close, the Eagles can take pride in all they have achieved together.
