The Eagles faced Forest Hills Central Friday evening. The Eagles conceded a goal early in the first half after a defensive miscue that resulted in a breakaway that was slotted past senior goalkeeper Anton Dershem. The Eagles responded by taking control of the game with 55% of the first half possession and 12 shots, but went into halftime down 0-1. The Rangers put up a stout defensive front in the 2nd half, but the Eagles picked-up where they left off by controlling the ball and the tempo. In the 66th minute, senior Joey Rauwerda headed a corner kick from Nick Cassiday into the far post of the Rangers goal to tie the game at 1-1. The Eagles pressed to find a game winner which came with only 3-minutes left on the clock. Senior Xander Schra floated a pass over the Rangers defense to a streaking Ben Hart who played the bouncing ball across the goal on his first touch to Junior Ben Kuiper who placed the ball forcefully into the back of the net for the game winning goal. The Eagles ended up with 60% of the possession on the night and recorded 22 shots against only 3 for the Rangers. The late game winner made for an exhilarating finish to a hard-fought match and put the Eagles at 2-0 in the OK White conference.
