The Boys Varsity Soccer team hosted Byron Center Tuesday night at Eagle Stadium in a clash of OK White opponents. The Eagles were coming off a back-to-back weekend of away matches and came out ready to play. The Eagles controlled the ball throughout the match (62.5% possession) and created multiple chances at goal while handling Byron Center’s counter attack opportunities. After taking the ball on the wing, Junior Nick Cassiday made a series of moves to beat defenders and get into the penalty area where he was taken down by a Byron Center defender to earn a penalty kick. Cassiday calmly stepped-up and netted the only goal of the match, putting the Eagles up 1-0 before halftime. The second half saw the Eagles continue to control the ball and create opportunities, but were unable to capitalize against a stingy Byron Center defense. The game ended in a 1-0 victory for the Eagles. The Varsity Eagles (4-0) resume play on Thursday night at Greenville High School at 6:45 pm. The game will be streamed on Facebook Live.
