The boys Varsity Soccer Team hosted OK-White opponent Lowell on Tuesday evening for the final match of the conference regular season. The Eagles began the evening by celebrating this year's seniors and parents before the match. Once kickoff occurred, the contrasting style of the two teams was on display. The Eagles began creating chances early in the half while the Red Arrows played very directly to their athletic forwards. The scoring opened up on a shot from distance by junior Nick Cassiday at the 15-minute mark. The Eagles added to their tally five minutes later when a cross from junior Grant Hassenrik was deflected into the Lowell goal by a defender (own goal). The score remained 2-0 heading into the half. Just a minute into the 2nd half, Lowell grabbed a goal back as they drove a cross across the Eagles box where the ball was deflected by an Eagle defender into the goal (own goal). With the score 2-1, the Eagles brought renewed focus and responded on a lofted shot by freshman Ben Hart (asst. to Cassiday) over the Lowell goalkeeper. The Eagles continued to create chances with Cassiday scoring again in the 75th minute and setting up junior Ben Kuiper in the 77th minute. The match ended with the Eagles ahead 5-1.
With a 7-0 conference record, the Eagles enter the OK-White tournament next week as the #1 seed and host. The Eagles return to action in a final non-conference match this Thursday against a highly-ranked Holland team (7:30 pm at Eagle Stadium and streamed on Facebook Live).
