The Boys Varsity Soccer team hosted Greenville on Tuesday night to open the OK White Conference Tournament. The match pitted the #1 seeded Eagles against the #8 seeded Yellow Jackets. The Eagles started quickly as they have recently, moving the ball and creating early chances. The Eagles opened their tally after senior Xander Schra put a shot into the Greenville net off a rebound. The Eagles controlled the match by controlling over 70% of the possession in the first half, but it took another 30 minutes to add to the tally when junior Nick Cassiday dribbled into position to finish a shot on goal. The Eagles went into halftime with a 2-0 lead, but came out with renewed urgency in the 2nd half. Just two minutes after halftime, Cassiday added to his tally off a pass from Freshman Ben Hart and just 15 seconds later, junior Ben Kuiper finished a chance at goal off a pass from Schra. The scoring continued with Cassiday finishing off his hat-trick on a pass from senior Adrian Boyden in the 47th minute. Boyden finished off his chance off an assist form junior Drew DeBoer just 6 minutes later. The Eagles continued to soar when junior Grant Bishop leeped into the air to head in a goal off a corner kick from senior Trent Elzinga in the 74th minute of the match making the score 7-0. Then, just two minutes later, junior Xavier Wright broke through the Yellow Jackets defensive line and was fouled in the penalty area, earning a penalty kick. Wright stepped-up and converted with just over 2-minutes remaining to make the final score 8-0.

The Eagles scored 8 goals on 26 shots (16 on goal). The team has a short turnaround as they prepare to face the #4 seed, Northview. The match will be hosted at Eagle Stadium on Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm and streamed on Facebook Live.
