Boys Varsity Soccer advances past Lowell 5-1

The Varsity Eagles began their state tournament with a 5-1 victory over Lowell on Thursday night at Eagle Stadium.
The Eagles came ready to play and opened the scoring quickly with Adrian Boyden scoring his 3rd goal of the season on an assist from Ben Kuiper in the 6th minute of play. The Eagles struck again in the 10th minute when Nick Cassiday stole a pass from Lowell and beat two players before tucking a shot into the Lowell net. Cassiday then helped add to the tallly by playing a ball into Alex Terry for a header past the Lowell goalkeeper just two minutes later, putting the Eagles up 3-0 only 12 minutes into the match. With firm control of the match, Xander Schra tucked away a pass from Trent Elzinga in the 23rd minute to increase the lead. After conceding a goal on a long distance shot from a Lowell attacker, the Eagles responded when Xavier Wright netted his 2nd goal of the season on another Elzinga assist.
The Eagles went into the half with a 5-1 margin. The Eagles moved the ball to create multiple opportunities throughout the second half but were unable to put the ball add to the scoreline. The halftime score of 5-1 stood as the final score and the Eagles advance to the district semi-finals.
The Eagles return to action at Wyoming-Kelloggsville (10-2-1) in the district semi-final match on Tuesday (time TBD).
