The Boys Varsity soccer team continued its three week road swing by traveling to the Forest Hill Northern Huskies on Tuesday night. The game promised to be a hard fought match as both teams looked to get a foothold in the OK White Conference race.
The Eagles came out strong and composed, generating several shots from distance in the first 15 minutes while controlling the pace of the match. The Huskies evened responded by putting more pressure on the Eagles as the first half continued with both goalkeepers making saves to keep the score level 0-0 at the break.
The Huskies poured on the pressure as the second half started, putting the Eagles on the back foot, defending hard and struggling to control the tempo of the game. Just as the Eagles were regaining their composure, a long throw-in from the Huskies created havoc in front of the Eagles' goal, allowing FHN to take a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles began to press to find a response, but a well-placed pass through the Eagle's defensive line put a FHN forward on a breakaway behind the defenders where he was able to double the tally. The Eagles battled hard to respond as the Huskies worked to kill off the remaining time on the clock for the victory.
The Eagles look to rebound on Thursday night as they travel to Northview for a 6:45 pm kickoff.
