The Varsity Eagles traveled to Forest Hills Eastern on a perfect night for soccer.  The Eagles would get on the board in the opening minutes as defender Will VandenBerg found the back of the net from distance to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead.   Not long after, the Eagles would strike again with an incisive counter-attack as Peter Borst played in Boris Lalic, who calmly finished past the keeper to make it 2-0.  The visitors would continue to press forward when Borst found some space on the left flank and slotted a perfect ball across the face of goal for Seth Rozema to finish, increasing the lead to 3-0.  The Eagles were not finished, however, as Emmett Vance smartly finished a quickly-taken free kick while the defense was trying to get organized.  John Cassiday would finish off the first half scoring with a curling, left-footed effort to the far post, from a Lalic assist, to stake the Eagles to a comfortable 5-0 halftime lead.

The Eagles would continue to push forward in the second half, creating a number of excellent scoring opportunities but being denied by some excellent saves by the Hawks' keeper.   The visitors would add to the scoresheet, however, when Cassidy combined well with Liam Jansen on a short corner, which Jansen smashed into the roof of the net to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead.  Seth Rozema would finish off the scoring with a late banger that hit the under-side of the crossbar, but caromed over the goal line to finish the match at 7-0.

Will Bufalini made a few quality saves to earn the clean sheet and the defensive unit of Soren White, Abel denDulk, Will VandenBerg, Will Bush, Isaac Williams, and Graham deJonge stood strong.

The Eagles return to action on Thursday night when they host the Pioneers of East Grand Rapids at Eagle Stadium at 7:30pm.
