UNITY CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 1.00
The Varsity Eagles visited host Unity Christian in a matchup of 2023 State Champions. The first half would feature a match played primarily in midfield with each team creating some half-chances in attack. After a scoreless first half, the match would come to life late in the second period. Senior Peter Borst would break the deadlock late in the game with a fantastic individual run down the left flank that culminated in a cool finish to the far post past the onrushing Unity keeper. The Eagles celebrated like they won the match, but Unity would equalize two minutes later from the penalty spot after a foul in the box. The match was not over, however, as the Eagles earned their own kick from the spot after a Crusader handball in the box. Senior John Cassiday would step up with four minutes remaining to restore the Eagle lead and this time the visitors would hold onto their lead to gain a well-earned victory on the road.
Next up for the Eagles is a match at Catholic Central on Wednesday at 6:45.
