The Varsity Eagles returned home after a long stretch of away matches.  With the first fall-like night of the season, the Eagles struck first against the Rangers of Forest Hills Central when John Cassiday got in behind the defense on the left flank and slid the ball home past the onrushing goalkeeper.  The Rangers would equalize, however, when they scored off a corner kick to even the score.  The Eagles would narrowly miss regaining the lead late in the half when a quality move led to service to the far post where a streaking Emmett Vance got his head on the ball but couldn't quite direct it on frame.

The second half started well for the home side with sustained pressure but it was the Rangers who would change the scoreline when the Eagles weren't able to deal with a ball slotted across the face of goal that ended up being finished at the far post.   The visitors would add one more later in the half from the penalty spot to earn the 3-1 victory.

The Eagles return to Eagle Stadium on Wednesday when they host Forest Hills Eastern for a 7:30pm kick off.
