Eagles varsity volleyball beats Byron Center in a 5 set thriller

The Eagles played Byron Center in a conference match Tuesday night and beat the Bulldogs 3-2. The scores were 19-25,28-26,20-25,25-22 and 15-9. It was a back and forth battle from start to finish with some amazing defense and powerful attacking on both sides. The Eagles dropped the first set but then battled their way back from a deficit in the second to win 28-26. The third set went back to the Bulldogs but then the Eagles took the fourth in another tight set. The Eagles pulled away in the fifth and won decidedly 15-9. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 27 kills, 1 block, 1 ace and 26 digs, Evie Doezema with 18 kills1 block and 5 digs, Liz Rupp with 16 digs, Emerson Williams with 15 digs and 1 ace, Stephanie Stewart with 8 kills, 1 block and 4 digs, Lauren Peal with 25 digs, 2 assists and 2 aces, Rowan Cebulski with 2 blocks and 4 digs and Alyssa DeVries with 52 assists, 15 digs, 5 kills and 3 aces. The Eagles are now 16-0 and will head to Greenville for a conference match on Thursday.
