The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles move forward with their season at the Rockford Rock and Rumble tournament, finishing with a record of 2-2. The competition was fierce, but the Eagles displayed resilience and skill throughout the event.

The Eagles kicked off the tournament with a strong performance against a scrappy Mattawan team. GRC secured a convincing 2-0 victory, with set scores of 25-21 and 25-20. The Eagles were relentless on offense, with an impressive team hitting efficiency of .333. Grace Goodyke led the charge with a standout performance, contributing 15 kills and achieving an outstanding efficiency of .591. This victory not only pumped up the Eagles' morale but also secured their place in the Gold Bracket.

In their second match, the Eagles faced a tough opponent in Caledonia High School, competing hard but ultimately falling 0-2 with scores of 20-25 and 21-25. Despite their effort, the Eagles struggled with a few untimely missed serves which proved critical against the aggressive Caledonia team.

Advancing to the Bracket play in the Gold Bracket, the Eagles delivered an upset against Jenison High School, winning decisively with set scores of 25-12 and 25-10. Madi Peal excelled with a near-perfect passing game, achieving a passing average of 2.6. Defensively, Grace Goodyke was a force at the net with 6 blocks, while Mallory Bremer contributed significantly with 9 digs, highlighting the Eagles’ strong defensive strategy in this dominating win.

The Eagles advanced to the finals, where they faced Rockford High School. GRC put up a spirited fight but ultimately lost in two sets, 14-25 and 23-25. The first game the Eagles struggle to find their rhythm against the Rams’ strong serve and solid defense. However, the second game featured a much closer contest, with both teams exchanging powerful offenses and creating an intense atmosphere. The Eagles displayed determination, but ultimately, they fell just short of clinching the championship.
