The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles came back from a long weekend of volleyball to play in a tri held at Forest Hills Northern. The Eagles faced off against two rivals, Forest Hills Northern and Forest Hills Central.
In their first match against Forest Hills Northern, the Eagles fell short in a tightly contested battle, losing 1-2. The set scores were 22-25, 25-22, and 11-15. Despite the loss, Grand Rapids Christian put considerable pressure on the Huskies with an impressive showing at the service line, taking home 11 aces. Taylor Frost played a standout role with four aces, closely followed by Mallory Bremer, who contributed three. On the defensive end, Mya Mckinnen was a force at the net, recording three blocks, while Anwen Amash was exceptional in the back row with 14 digs.
The Eagles rebounded in their second match against Forest Hills Central, clinching a victory with scores of 25-14, 25-27, and 15-11. This match highlighted the team’s offense, particularly from Grace Goodyke and Piper Cebulski, who led the attack with 11 and 7 kills, Cebulski with a hitting efficiency of .455. The Eagles demonstrated their blocking skills as well, notching a total of eight blocks, with both Grace and Mya each contributing three. Madi Peal provided crucial support for the team, maintaining control with a passing average of 2.1 throughout the match.
