The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles dominated at the Hudsonville Invitational, finishing the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. This impressive achievement came only from solid teamwork and focus.

The Eagles kicked off pool play against West Ottawa High School, securing victory with scores of 29-27 and 25-16. Madi Peal was a standout in defense, posting an impressive 14 digs, while Grace Goodyke shined offensively with 8 kills and a remarkable hitting efficiency of .500.

Next up in pool play was Portage Northern, where the Eagles continued their winning streak with another 2-0 triumph, defeating Portage 25-23 and 25-13. The team demonstrated solid control throughout the match, with four total aces and an impressive passing average of 2.1. Madi Peal led the way with a passing average of 2.3, while Mallory Bremer contributed offensively with 8 kills, and Taylor Frost excelled in distributing plays with 13 assists.

With two wins under their belt, Grand Rapids Christian moved on to the gold bracket, facing Hudsonville High School. The Eagles continued to shine, winning decisively with scores of 25-23 and 25-19. The team showcased an impressive overall hitting efficiency of .309, led by both Mallory Bremer and Grace Goodyke, who each recorded 11 kills, all made possible by the hard work from setters, Piper Celbulski and Taylor Frost with 24 assists. Defensively, Mya Mckinnen was Key on defense, contributing with 3 blocks.

The final match against Northview High School proved to be a thrilling conclusion to the tournament. The Eagles clinched the championship with a 2-0 victory, winning 25-14 and 26-24 in the second set. Anwen Amash and Mallory Bremer stood out with a passing average of 2.4, demonstrating their skill in the back row and setting a tempo for the offense. The Eagles displayed an outstanding hitting efficiency of .424, led by Sylvia Setsma’s with a hitting percentage of .600. Madi Peal once again impressed on defense, contributing with 10 digs.

The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles’ performance at the Hudsonville Invitational not only showcases their skill and teamwork but also sets a high standard for the rest of the season. With their relentless defense and powerful offense, the Eagles are certainly a team to watch as they continue their path to post season.
