The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles showcased their teamwork in a thrilling home double duel, securing victories against two big conference opponents. 

In the first match of the day, the Eagles faced Catholic Central High School. The Eagles clinched a 2-0 victory with set scores of 25-23 and 25-19. Mya Mckinnen played a big part, displaying remarkable skill both offensively and defensively. She recorded 2 blocks and 7 kills, and an impressive hitting percentage of .778. The team’s solid performance was rooted in their exemplary passing, maintained at an average of 2.1. Grace Goodyke led the passing department with an average of 2.3, while Madi Peal contributed significantly with a passing average of 2.1 and delivered 3 aces to put Catholic Central on the back foot. In this match the Eagles displayed a calm confidence coming back more than once after a couple serving runs by the cougars showing not only great teamwork but strong mental toughness.

Following this triumph, the Eagles turned their attention to their cross-town rivals, East Grand Rapids High School. The intense match saw the Eagles come through with the win once again, with set scores of 29-27 and 25-16. In this match up, Grace Goodyke assumed the offensive lead, delivering 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .444. Madi Peal was equally outstanding, particularly in serve receive, achieving a passing average of 2.3 and making 13 digs to fortify the Eagles’ defense. The combined force of Mya Mckinnen and Grace Goodyke at the net added the defensive edge the Eagles needed, with each player recording 3 blocks. Piper Cebulski and Taylor Frost orchestrated the Eagles’ attack with intentionality, providing 12 assists a piece.
