Varsity Boys Lax Hold On for the "W" in Rematch with the Wildcats

The Eagles made the trek to western Kent County on Thursday for a Tier 3 rematch against Jenison. In the earlier season game, the Eagles snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a heartbreaking 6 to 5 loss. This time around the Eagles came to play, even without several of the South Christian Seniors who were attending their Honors Convocation that evening. The boys in blue and black jumped out to a 6-goal lead by the end of the 1st half that the Cats were unable to answer.

The 2nd half was not so friendly to the Laxers as the wheels started to come off of their wagon. Injuries to 2 key players combined with the missing SC Scholars left the Eagles calling on JV players to step into the breach. The boys managed to hold on with the final buzzer showing the Eagles clinging to a 6 to 5 "W". Irony you say, or just Deja Vu all over again?

Points on the night went to Spencer Slagboom with an assist for 1 point, 2 points for Jake Eaton with 2 assists, and Colin Wildman with 2 goals, 3 points went to Luke Afman with 2 assists and a goal, and the big swinger for the night was Brock Grieve with an assist and a Hat Trick for 4 points.
