The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles faced off against the Hudsonville Eagles on Wednesday night in a highly athletic and competitive match. Despite a strong effort, the GRC Eagles ultimately fell short, suffering a defeat.

Grace Kelder set the tone early by scoring the first goal for the Eagles, keeping the game close and within one goal through the first quarter. In the second quarter, Hannah Kits and Lila Jabara followed up with another goal, further fueling the Eagles’ hopes.

On the defensive side, Katelyn Raak was a standout, leading the team in groundballs and showcasing a fierce, aggressive presence. Macey VanderWal also played a key role on defense, leading the team with 3 caused turnovers.

As the game wore on, the Eagles mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter. Maddox Veldkamp was instrumental in this effort, securing 3 draw controls that allowed the Eagles more offensive opportunities. This set up Grace Kelder for another two goals, and Esther Kissinger added one more to make it a one-goal game.

Despite their late push, the GRC Eagles were unable to complete the comeback, falling to Hudsonville. The Eagles will look to bounce back when they face Byron Center High School on Saturday morning at Home.
