GR Christian varsity football suffered a setback at the hands of the Bulldogs from Byron Center in Friday's home contest. The tough Byron Center team controlled the game from an early juncture, using a long kick return to set up a touchdown on their first drive. A few early turnovers proved costly as the Eagles found themselves down 20-6 in the first quarter. Showing good fight, the boys in Blue and Black never quit, but the execution, effort, and discipline of the Byron Center team established them as the clearly better side on this day.

The Eagles early score came on an acrobatic, one-handed 65-yard touchdown pass from Ronin Dixon to Marcellus VanderKodde. Brian Hunter also provided a spark with multiple catches deep down the field. The Eagles were paced on the ground by Ace Thomas who contributed several great runs. Adam Sarjo and Ahmon Parks lead the way up front by chipping in several pancake blocks each. Buddy Hogan provided an impressive fumble recovery on defense while Aidan Bremer was physical and around the football all night.

The GR Christian team will maintain their commitment to the process of getting better and will be back in action this week Friday at Eagle Stadium as they square off against Forest Hills Northern at 7:00 PM.
