GRAND RAPIDS CATHOLIC CENTRAL: 3
The Eagles hockey team lost a close hard fought battle with Grand Rapids Catholic Central 3-2. After going down a goal in the first period, they came out in the second with a lot more energy. Catholic Central scored their second goal to go up 2 - 0 and the Eagles responded with a goal from Corbin Venckus with assists going to Tommy Doyle and Jake Noordewier. The Eagles scored eight minutes into the third period as Matthew Ydenberg scored on a rush. Assisting on the play were Ben Baysore and Noordewier with his second of the night. Catholic Central scored with five minutes left in the game to go up 3 to 2. Despite some great chances and a shot off the post, the Eagles were unable to notch their third goal of the game. Shots on goal were 35 to 26 in favor of Catholic Central. The Eagles had 10 block shots, and Noah Herzhaft had 23 saves in the game.
The Eagles will play their third game of the week Friday night at Patterson Ice Arena against Forest Hills Northern/Eastern at 8:00.
