JV Grand Rapids Christian Eagles beat Forest Hills Northern Huskies 1-0

As the air buzzed with anticipation, the JV Eagles took the pitch under less-than-ideal conditions, playing in nearly 90-degree on-field temperatures for their second home game of the 2024 season, versus a physical Forest Hills Northern team.

It had been a back-and-forth defensive battle, when Moses Hapner delivered a ball with two minutes left in the first half, allowing Andrew Brink to break towards the opposing goal, brilliantly centering a perfect pass which Noah Peterson finished off with a strong shot on goal, taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room.

The Eagles continued their defensive dominance in the second half as the match and temperature heated up. The JV team has yet to be scored on this season thanks in part to the strong play at goalie by Alex Nelson and Soren Mayer. The opposition continued to be held in check, key defensive plays made by Tyler Wolters, Simon Borst, Jayden Green, and Jacob Brink. Our unsung heroes in the midfield, Will Gruennert, Ben Williams, and Max Rodwell bridged both defense and attack, their strategic plays weaving the fabric of the game.

Most importantly the team continues to excel and grow as a unit, ending the day with a 1-0 victory and a season record thus far of 2-0-1.
