GRAND RAPIDS UNION HS: 36
GR Christian boys freshman basketball team played host to Union Monday night. It was a back and forth first half with each team making a big run. With Union leading 23-22 at halftime, the Eagles knew they had to come out with more intensity in the 2nd half. They did just that, outscoring Union 16-5 in the 3rd quarter to lead 38-28. In the 4th quarter the Eagles got a big boost from Ian Velzen-Haner, who scored 7 points and had 3 steals in the 4th, to help push Grand Rapids Christian to a 56-36 win. The Eagles were lead by Josh Winkle and Dono Thames, who each had 14 points. The Next game will be Tuesday night at 5:30pm in the All City gym.
