SOUTH CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 12

Eagles reset for game two and took South Christian to extra innings, but fell short losing 12-10 in the bottom of the 8th. Abbe Diemer pitched the first five innings, giving up eight hits and striking out four. Lauren Holkeboer made her Varsity debut on the mound and finished out the game, giving up only one hit and striking out two. 

Going into the bottom of the seventh the Eagles were down one, 10-9. Finding her way on base Lily Gaastra singles on a hard ground ball to center field. Lauren Holkeboer sacrifice bunts, moving Gaastra to second. Next up, Lille Dekker singles on a line drive to center field, scoring Gaastra. Top of the eight, international tiebreaker rule is enforced and the Eagles start with a runner at second on defense. South Christian does work at the plate and scores two, making it 12-10. Unfortunately the Eagles were unable to come back in the bottom of the 8th.

On offense the Eagles racked up a total of eight hits. Leading the Eagles at the plate was Gaastra with two singles, a double, one RBI, and a stolen base. Dekker had three singles and two RBIs and Haily McBride had two singles.

In the field the Eagles worked hard against the consistent bats of South Christian. Annika Smits went 4/4 in center field, holding off runners in scoring position. Gaastra continued to hold strong at short stop having five assists and three putouts. Dekker and Gaastra connected up to catch three girls steeling second.

The Eagles have a double header Monday versus Forest Hills Central starting at 4:15 PM.
