Grand Rapids Christian's offense exploded on Tuesday, powered by Rae Cummings’ standout performance at the plate. Cummings drove in four runs on three hits, including an inside-the-park home run in the third inning and a two-run double in the fourth, leading the Eagles to a commanding 17-2 victory over Lee.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, capitalizing on a Lee error in the first inning. Karina Mora followed up with an RBI single down the right-field line, giving Grand Rapids Christian an early advantage.
The momentum continued in the second, as Greta Holman drew a walk and Jaslene McWilliams ripped a two-run triple to center field, extending the lead.
A six-run third inning put the game out of reach. Maren Leech started the scoring with an RBI triple before Cummings’ inside-the-park homer plated two more. Ellie VandeGriend and Mora each added RBI singles as the Eagles surged ahead, 12-2.
Grand Rapids Christian closed out the scoring with a five-run fourth inning. Cummings’ two-run double, along with RBI hits from Holman and McWilliams, sealed the dominant win.
The Eagles’ bats were on fire, racking up 14 hits. Cummings and Holman led the charge with three hits a piece, while Mora and McWilliams each contributed two hits. Leech, Reese Mersman, Keira Porte, and VandeGriend each had one hit.
On the mound, Cummings delivered a stellar performance, earning the victory. She allowed just two hits and two unearned runs over four innings while striking out eight and walking one.
