In a high-scoring battle, the Eagles held strong under pressure, earning a 14-10 victory over Lee. The Eagles came out swinging, capitalizing on three early errors to take an immediate lead in the first. They continued to build momentum in the second when Rae Cummings smacked an RBI double to center, followed by a Greta Holman groundout that brought in another run. Keira Porte’s RBI single in the third extended the advantage before Lee responded with an explosive bottom half, taking an 8-6 lead on a series of defensive miscues.
Grand Rapids Christian wasted no time reclaiming control. In the fourth, Holman and Ellie VandeGriend delivered key hits, McWilliams drove in another run on a groundout, and an error allowed another score, putting the Eagles back on top.
The offense kept rolling in the fifth as Holman’s RBI groundout set the stage for McWilliams’ towering two run - home run to center, pushing the lead to 14-9. An additional run scored on an error, sealing the Eagles’ offensive showcase.
On the mound, Cummings came on in relief to secure the win, throwing 2.1 hitless innings while striking out three. McWilliams started the game, striking out five over 2.2 innings despite some defensive struggles behind her.
Grand Rapids Christian’s bats were hot, racking up 12 hits. VandeGriend and Cummings led the charge with three apiece, while Porte and Holman added two hits each. Karina Mora and Jaslene McWilliams each also had one hit. The Eagles were aggressive on the bases, swiping eight bags, with Alexis Willis stealing two.
