The Eagles soared this weekend at the OK Lakeshore Conference Meet! As a team, we had a great deal of best times & high scores through the meet. The Eagles did a great job coming together, cheering loudly, and celebrating each other’s successes all weekend.
Listed below are some highlights:
-Daria VanderGriend dropped 5 seconds in her breaststroke, for a new best time of 1:31.21.
-Emmarie VanOss competed all 11 dives, rocking her back one and a half, and came away with a new personal best of 276.55
-All five divers scored high enough to place in the top 16!
-Our 400 Relay of Maddie Mills, Ali Buist, Lucy Molenbeek, and Anneke Nederbveld dropped 6 seconds from their mid season time.
-Anneke Nederveld swam a 5:52 in her 500 free, dropping 4 seconds for a new best time.
-Rebekah Poppen took home a new best time in her 50 free, swimming a 31.62
-Elizabeth Snow dropped 4 seconds in her 100 free.
-Hannah Compagner had two big time drops: 7 seconds in her 100 free and 10 seconds in her 100 breast.
-Karson VanDenend broke 30 seconds in her 50 split in the 200 medley relay. She also took home a best time in the 100 free.
-Elizabeth Doezema absolutely rocked it when she dropped 4 seconds in the 100 breaststroke, for a new personal best of 1:14.71. Elizabeth also swam her fastest relay split in breaststroke and took another best time in the 100 free with a 59.89.
-Julia Benthem blew everyone’s mind when she swam a 25.35 in her 50 split in the 200 medley relay. She then went to take on the 50 free and landed a 26.08.
-Beatrice Volkema was just short of our school 11 dive record, scoring 379 points and placing second place in diving.
-Ella Vliem completed her inward one and a half, which brought her to a new high score 265.10
-Maddie Mills swam a fastest time in her 200 free on Friday and then again on Saturday, landing with a 2:00.78.
-Grace VanderWoerd swam her fastest time in the 50 free and 100 free.
-Lexi Mckee touched the wall at 30.93, landing a best time in the 50 free.
-Braylon VanDenend swam her fastest 100 back with a 1:27.01.
-Juliana Mills took 2nd place in the 100 fly and 3rd place in the 100 back after dropping 3 seconds from prelims.
-Katherine Brandt snuck into top 16 in both her 200 free and 100 free, with 2 best times.
-Emily Setlock ended the meet with three high scoring dives, moving up to 4th place on Saturday.
-Lilly Kate Devries nailed her twisters, landing in 11th place overall.
-Ali Buist carried the positivity on our team and took a best time in the 200 IM with a 2:36.28.
-Maeve Harkness swam a 24.90 split the 200 free relay and took 2nd in the 50 and 100 free.
-Veda Harkness took 7th place in breaststroke and 3rd in the 100 fly.
-Lucy Molenbeek dropped 5 seconds from prelims in her 500 free.
-Louise Liu took a best time in the 100 and 50 free.
-Maddox Veldkamp was 16th place in the 50 free, scoring for the team.
-Gertie Heerema swam best times in the 200 IM and 100 back.
-Olivia Koldenhoven landed top 8 in both her individual events, with a new PR of 1:06 in the 100 fly.
-Emily VanderHeide dropped 3 seconds from prelims in her 200 IM and got a best time in her 200 IM.
Congratulations to Beatrice Volkema, Maeve Harkness, Veda Harkenss, Maddie Mills, and Juliana Mills on being named All-Conference!
It was a close meet on Saturday, and we are incredibly excited and proud to come away with a second place finish at our conference meet, tying for second place in our conference overall. The Eagles sure made their mark in the OK Lakeshore Conference!
