Girls Junior Varsity Lacrosse ties Mona Shores HS School

The JV Eagles girls lacrosse team battled Mona Shores in a nail-biting contest, resulting in a 5-5 tie game.
The girls passed the ball efficiently and effectively all game, highlighting the confidence and growth that this team has seen! Goalie, Eva Lindstrom had an incredible game, saving 7 shots, one of them being the free position shot from Mona Shores in the last minute of the game. This save helped the eagles clinch the tie!
The girls found success on the circle, with Rylee Anderson, Sophia DeHoop, and Lucy DeBoer each securing three draw controls, bringing the eagles to a 64% success rate. The team worked incredibly diligently to obtain every ground ball they could, helping them to maintain ball possession. Hannah Mockabee, Sophia DeHoop, Neve Winstanley each came away with three ground balls, and Lucy DeBoer, Liz Nienhuis, Brooke Vandyke, and Cecilia Morales Blay each came away with one. The girls' success with ball control will be an asset as we continue the season.
While “caused turnovers” are not currently tracked in the stat book, they are valuable, and Neve Winstanley, Lulu Ghent, Jordyn VanderZwaag, and Mikayla Wolters had many caused turnovers, helping the eagles to regain possession and smother the Mona Shores attack.
The eagles were able to find the back of the net a handful of times. Brooke Vandyke, Rylee Anderson, and Liz Nienhuis each scored one exciting goal, and Lucy Deboer scored two, one of them being an impressive and surprising shovel shot!
The JV squad had incredible energy, effort, and dedication in today’s game. The eagles will look to maintain this energy as they take on West Ottawa on Monday the 21st.
