The girls JV volleyball team took 2nd place at the Hudsonville Invitational on Saturday. In pool play, the team went 2-1 overall after beating Lowell 2-0, Mattawan 2-0, and losing to Zeeland East 1-2. They were seeded in the gold bracket with a bye in the quarter final round. In the semi finals, the Eagles defeated Forest Hills Central 2-0 (27-26, 25-20) before facing Hudsonville in the finals in a very competitive and exciting match. The match went to 3 sets (20-25, 25-15, 15-17) and although GR Christain played relentlessly, they came 2 points shy of the win. Leaders for the tournament were Gabrielle Richardson with 82 digs, Alyssa Devries with 98 assists and 9 aces, Ainsley Weeber with 30 kills, Rowan Cebulski with 28 kills, Kate Breems with 9 aces and 7 blocks, and Makenzie Ritsema with 6 blocks.
