After falling short in two hard fought pool play matches in the morning, the Eagles bounced back to win the bronze bracket in Saturday's season-opening tournament at Impact Dynamic Training. In a highly competitive pool, the Eagles dropped their two opening matches; 21-25, 25-16, 7-15 to Calhoun Christian and 26-28, 25-27 to Forest Hills Eastern. GR Christian's level of play increased significantly in the afternoon, defeating East Kentwood HS by a score of 25-18, 22-25, 15-13 before dispatching Wyoming Potter's House 25-19, 25-10 in the final. Junior George Boville paced the Eagles with 24 kills on the day, and freshman Will Vanden Berg provided a needed spark after his insertion into the lineup - providing a couple of key serving runs against East Kentwood and Potter's House.
