Isaiah Bos competes in MHSAA State Tennis Finals!

Eagles Lose: -
This past weekend Isaiah Bos (Senior) proudly competed at the MHSAA Div 3 State Finals at the #1 singles position. Isaiah earned the individual bid to States after a runner-up performance at the Regional Tournament. The State Championship was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan and featured the top talent across the state in Division 3 tennis. The weather made it a frustrating day for everyone involved. Originally scheduled to play Friday morning, Isaiah did not get on the court for his match until 5:30pm. Consequently, a slow start hurt his performance and Isaiah lost in a tight two set match against Mason (4-6, 4-6). Isaiah's growth as a player is a great story - from an alternate as a Freshman, to 4 doubles as a Sophomore, to 2 singles as Junior, to 1 singles as a Senior. His achievement of making the State Championship is a tremendous example of how hard work pays off over time. What is even more apparent is Isaiah's growth as a person - becoming a crucial leader for the Varsity team on and off the court.  We are incredibly proud to have Isaiah represent our team and school. Isaiah's leadership and skills will be deeply missed next year as he moves on, along with six other seniors (Parker Seth, Josh VanSchepen, Adam Workman, BJ Apol, Nate Scheffler, and Connor Ryan). We are excited to follow their growth and achievements as people as they take their next step in life.

The Eagles competed in the Regional Tournament on Wednesday at Forest Hills Eastern. The boys earned 7 points at the tournament, narrowly missing the 10 points needed to qualify for States as a team. In better news - Senior Isaiah Bos earned an automatic bid to the state tournament at 1 singles! Isaiah went 2-1 on the day, making it all the way to the finals in the 1 singles draw before losing to EGR. With the loss, boys finished up their season. Not making the state tournament is a dissapointment but they remain in good spirits and look forward to cheering on Isaiah at the state tournament.

Next up for the Eagles is the OK White Conference Tournament on Friday and the Regional Tournament next week. They maintain their goal to qualify for the State touranment.

The Eagles rebounded from a tough Monday result to dominate Greenville on Wednesday by a score of 7-1. All flights won in convincing fashion besides Senior Adam Workman at 2 singles, who had to default his match due to sickness.  The boys look to ride this momentum into their Monday match against Lowell, the last scheduled duel of the season. They also have a great opportunity to prepare for the conference and reginoal tournaments, with 5 practice days between now and then.

The boys competed on Thursday in a rescheduled match against Forest Hills Central. It was a tough day for the Eagles as they dropped all 8 matches. The good news is, unlike Monday against FHN, they were very proud of their performance. In 7 of the 8 matches, the boys had better 2nd sets than 1st sets. It was a very big building block as they approach the most important stretch of the season beginning next week. Senior Isaiah Bos at 1 singles was the only player to earn a set, dropping a tight third set battle in one of his most impressive performances of the season. Next up for the Eagles is the Holland Christian Invitational on Saturday.

The boys rebounded from a tough performance on Monday to dominate on Wednesday against Northview High School. The Eagles swept their opponents at all singles and doubles flights while dropping very few games in the process. It was a much needed performance that the boys will look to build upon this Thursday against a challenging FHN opponent.

The boys had their most difficult duel of the year at Forest HIlls Northern this Monday. After a strong weekend, they left a little disappointed in their performance against a very talented FHN team. Senior Isaiah Bos secured their only win at 1 singles as he continues his impressive season at the top of the lineup for the Eagles. The Eagles will look to rebound from Wednesday's performance on Wednesday vs Northview and Thursday vs FHC (a rescheduled duel).

The boys competed hard this weekend at the Rockford Invitational - their toughest tournament of the season. They earned notable wins at 4 singles (Connor VanDrunen) and 1 doubles (Parker Seth/Josh VanSchepen), who both played their best tennis of the season so far. There we also many great matches that were dropped in third set tiebreaks. They have shown improvement each week and are primed for a good performance in their upcoming regional competitions. The team returns to full strength this week which is good timing with 4 matches on the schedule. They begin on Monday against Forest Hills Northern.
