Eagles Lose: 1.00 - 11.00
The team competed against a very strong Forest Hills Northern team.  The teams of Mace Broender & Henry Snow and Sam Hillary & Marc Maurus had tough matches.  They both lost their first set and then came back to win their second set to push their matches to tie breakers.  Unfortunately both came up short in the tie breaker but walked off the court feeling good about their play.  The other teams competed strong against their opponents as well.  Often forcing long play through back and forth good shots.  Jonah Mulder & Anderson Generous won their match (8-4).  The team travels to Northview Wednesday.

Eagles Win: 8.00 - 4.00
The Team came to play resulting with an 8-4 victory.  This is the first victory for the Team which is well deserved because they’ve been working hard during and outside of practice.  I’m most proud of the competitiveness and playing till the end the Team exhibited.  In some cases this proved to be the difference between winning or losing in close 3 game tie breakers.   Below are those who brought home wins: Mace Boender & Henry Meyer (6-3, 7-6) Saem Hillary & Marc Maurus (8-6) Aaron Dahlberg & Ian VanDrunen (10-8) Elliott Dracht & Ben Systma (8-1) Jonah Mulder & Anderson Generous (8-2) Eli Kuiper & James Krosschell (8-1) Evan Rusticus & Miles Rublein (6-0) AJ Warren & Andrew Kim (6-2) The below teams played hard but lost in 3 set tie breakers: Mark VanHekken & Felipe Martinez Mendoza Bryan Diemer & James Vandenbosch Our next match is home this Thursday against Jenison.

Eagles Lose: 5.00 - 7.00
The team continues to improve with each match played.  Apparently last night's strategy was to play poorly during warm ups, saving the good stuff for the matches.  It seemed to work though we won't do it again.  Though we lost 5 to 7, the team is playing their best tennis.  This is the result of raising their competitiveness, focus and effort in practice and practicing outside the normal practice hours.  These extras have resulted in the most wins this season and personal bests for all players. The following teams took home wins last night: Henry Snow and Felipe Martinez Mendoza (6-2, 6,3) James Krosschell and James Vandenbosch (6-4, 6-2) Jonah Mulder and Anderson Generous (8-3) Evan Rusticus and Miles Rublein (8-7) AJ Warren and Aaron Dahlberg (8-1) Other notable team efforts include Zeke VanSchepen and Mark VanHekken (2-6, 4-6) and Sam Hillary and Ian VanDrunen (2-6, 4-6) who competed to win more games their second set than the first and Henry Meyer and Henry Kraay who lost in 3 sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-10).   The team travels to Hudsonville this Friday to compete in a tournament.

JV Boys Tennis The team competed well yesterday against a skilled Hudsonville team.  Though we only won 4 matches, the team did a good job executing what's been covered in just 3 practices. Teams: Mace Boender and Bryan Diemer (L 4-8), Henry Snow and Felipe Martinez Mendoza (W 8-6), Aaron Dahlberg and Ben Sytsma (L 4-8), and Henry Meyer and Elliott Dracht (W 8-5) had the closest matches with some taking home a win.  Though the other teams' scores weren’t as close, they competed at the same level as their opponents. I'm encourage by the team's excitement and positive attitude as we go on the road to take on Unity Christian this Thursday. Go Eagles!
