Eagles Win: 37.00 - 36.00
The JV Eagles wrapped up their Conference season on Tuesday night in the best possible way. Right out of the gates Karson VanDenend was a bucket. She managed to notch a double double in just 16 minutes, scoring 10 points in the first half and adding 10 rebounds, it was electric. However, the Pioneers managed to stay neck and neck throughout the whole game, so much so that the last minute of the game dragged on for ages with multiple timeouts and three lead changes. The Eagles called a timeout with the ball in our hands, down 1 needing to go full court in 10 seconds. Lexi Willis in-bounded into the corner to Maya Merritt after a great screen from Lily Batts. Merritt moved the ball up to Keira Dawes at half court and Nenfot Darshak went running, catching the ball in transition and scored with 1 second to play. The crowd went wild, it was the PERFECT end to the conference season. We are so proud of the teamwork and the resilience the girls showed, it all paid off!

Eagles Lose: 31.00 - 57.00
Thursday night was a tough one for the Eagles as they had their first try at a 4 pm start. Once the girls warmed up a little bit they found some pace on offense thanks to the rebounding expertise of Addie Werdon and Tori Scott. Nenfot Darshak added very helpful aggression to get the ball from the Rangers and Sidonia Louise added a great basket in transition. Maya Merritt arrived in Troy Bolton style after a choir performance and added some helpful energy in the second half scoring 6 points and adding pressure. Darshak also had 6 and Werdon was the leader on the day with points (9) and rebounds. The Eagles get one more week of competition with a game Tuesday vs EGR.

Eagles Lose: 19.00 - 53.00
Away in Red Arrow territory our team faced a tough match Tuesday night, ultimately falling short with a final score of 53-19. Despite the challenging outcome, there were moments of great effort and determination displayed by our players. Alexis Willis emerged as a standout performer, leading our team in scoring and pace. While the result may not have been in our favor, we commend the hard work in all 4 quarters. They continue to show dedication and commitment, and we look forward to their continued effort in the next week.

Eagles Win: 36.00 - 32.00
The JV basketball team traveled down the street Tuesday to face conference rival East Grand Rapids. Tori Scott won the opening tip and the Eagles made the Pioneers call an early timeout after 3 quick baskets. The girls wanted the win and Eliana Oren made sure to start the game on that foot, scoring 5 points in the first 24 seconds (has to be a record). Addie Werdon added two early baskets and Maya Merritt notched another 3, putting the Eagles up 17-10 going into the second quarter. The Pioneers made some helpful adjustments, forcing the Eagles into a little trouble down the stretch but not enough to take away the victory. Lily Batts, Keira Dawes, Karsen VanDenend, Ava Leder, Nenfot Darshak and Alexis Willis all joined the scoring column as well, including Darshak and Merritt perfect from the foul line in the 4th. Another great team win for the JV Eagles.

Eagles Win: 52.00 - 48.00
The JV Eagles came out with their best intensity of the season on Thursday night and it proved worth it. Lexi Willis was hot out the gate forcing steals on the press and finding the basket under pressure. Maya Merritt and Lily Batts once again proved a dangerous duo as Merritt got hot from the outside arc and Batts can always find her. Two more freshmen joined the game in the second quarter and combined for double digit points and steals, thank you Keira Dawes and Adelyn Breuninger. Dawes added 12 points in just the second quarter helping the Eagles go into halftime up a few and she finished as the second high on the night with 14. Merritt continued her hot hand in the second half despite strong Northview pressure and ended up tallying 5 3's and finishing with 19. It was an amazing team effort and all 15 girls have a ton to be proud of.

Eagles Lose: 15.00 - 42.00
The JV Eagles traveled to Byron Center Tuesday to take on another tough conference matchup. The girls were hot from the start with a great first basket in transition from Lily Batts. Then a dominant duo down low of Tori Scott and Addie Werdon rebounded like crazy to keep the Eagles in the game in the first. The second quarter was harder as BC made some adjustments on defense and stifled the Eagles offense. While the second half continued in difficulty for the Eagles, the girls were aggressive and fought hard until the final whistle. Tori Scott was the leader on the day in points and rebounds. The Eagles get another competition Thursday night at home vs Northview.

Maya Merritt joined the scoring early on and also forced some turnovers from the Yellow Jackets. Nenfot Darshak, Merritt and Adelyn Breuninger were the three to control the press in the third and score basket after basket. It was the spark that was needed to put the Eagles on top by a bit. The JV Eagles celebrated their best team win of the season on Thursday night against the Forest Hills Central Rangers. Lily Batts was hot out of the gates with an early three pointer, Nenfot Darshak and Karson VanDenend added baskets as well putting the girls up in the first. The second quarter is when the Eagle offense took over after big defensive stops. Tori Scott, Maya Merritt, Addie Werdon our birthday girl, and Keira Dawes joined the scoring column sending the Eagles into halftime up 14. The girls kept the pedal down and continued to make huge plays as a team, Karina Mora then joined the other scorers. Batts, Merritt and Werdon finished with 9 points each with our best balanced scoring effort yet thanks to some well-timed assists from Adelyn Breuninger. The girls return Tuesday at Greenville!

Eagles Lose: 29.00 - 36.00
The JV Eagles came out Tuesday night against a very talented Lowell team and proved how they can put themselves in any game. Maya Merritt struck early and put the Eagles in front going into quarter 2. It was a Nenfot Darshak and Lily Batts duo that sprung the girls ahead with steals on defense which led into a very balanced attack on offense. Karson VanDenend was the hot hand on offense and quickly found 3 buckets in a row. Adelyn Breuninger was able to give her 5th quarter to a shorthanded JV team and she made it count, logging 4 assists in just 8 minutes. However, the Red Arrows pushed hard on defense and found more legs than the Eagles down the stretch. Merritt finished as the leading scorer with 8 followed by VanDenend with 6. Luckily the girls will get another chance at Lowell soon.

Eagles Lose: 29.00 - 34.00
The JV basketball team fought a very close battle on Thursday night against Northview. The Eagles had a very hot start as the Wildcats tried to figure out how to defend. Lily Batts and Maya Merritt both started out with back to back baskets putting the Eagles on top early. The second quarter started to even out a bit, but Karson VanDenend and Tori Scott helped rebound and find the basket for the Eagles. The defensive pressure kept the Eagles in the game, but the Northview defense made it hard for our team to find the hoop in the second half. Merritt and Batts both topped the scoring columns with 8 points each. Eagles are back to competition next Thursday at Forest Hills Northern.

Eagles Win: 53.00 - 20.00
The girls JV team had a great performance Thursday night in their last game of winter break. With no freshman competition on the day, the team was able to grab some extra players and it helped! Lexi Willis found two baskets in the first quarter followed by Keira Dawes also with a couple quick ones, helping the Eagles jump to an early lead. Defensive pressure was what sealed the deal on the victory though with the girls picking up a lot of points through steals in their press. Lily Batts, Nenfot Darshak and Eliana Oren led this charge and really took over the game setting up their teammates. The fun continued with 10 Eagles in the scoring column on the day. Ava Leder, Tori Scott and Zyia Mickens added great baskets assisted by Adelyn Breuninger! Breuninger in her second JV game led the team as the game high points with 9 and Dawes followed with 9. Batts and Merritt chipped in 7 each as well. It was a balanced and wonderful team effort to finish out break.

Lexi Willis added multiple baskets in the first quarter too to keep the Eagles right in it. Maya Merritt and Keira Dawes added some helpful pressure in the second quarter and the girls went into halftime down 6. However, Byron Center made some helpful adjustments going into the third and the Eagles found themselves chasing in the third. Time got away from them and it was hard to catch up. Merritt continued to find the basket in the 4th, but BC added a lot of defensive intensity making it hard for the Eagles. Merritt led with 11 points, Werdon chipped in 8. The Eagles are back Thursday night at home versus Greenville.

Eagles Lose: 29.00 - 51.00
Tuesday night's 6 game rotation started with a 4 pm tipoff belonging to the JV girls in the Quest Center. While it was a new season debut, the girls were eager to start a season with a strong returning squad! They did not skip a beat to start the first quarter, carried by a strong fight and a lot of three balls from Addie Werdon and Lily Batts. It felt like the Eagles could keep themselves in it with grit and hardwork, but the Sailors went on a wild run in the second quarter. This did not scare the Eagles as they returned after halftime ready to lock it down again. Freshman Maya Merritt controlled the tempo well as PG1 and Tori Scott and Nenfot Darshak added big baskets. Defense ended up mattering big time as they held South to only 5 baskets in the second half. It was a game of runs and it was a great first night under our belt. High scorer on the day was Werdon with 10, followed by Batts with 7. Girls are back Friday night against Wyoming.
