Boys Varsity Track vs. MHSAA Finals

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles finished with 12 points, and in 18th place in the MHSAA State Finals Saturday. The Eagles were represented by 9 boys who earned the right to compete in the last official T&F meet of the season. The 4x100 meter relay team of Gabe Armstead, Henry Streeter, Aaron Gholston, and Ethan Lenters finished 15th. In the 1600 meter run, Reuben Wiering took 16th place.  With only two events left, the Eagles were still at zero points. However, a PR run by Simon Triezenberg in the 3200 ended the drought when Simon took 7th scoring 2 points. The final race of the day was the 4x400 meter relay, where the Eagles were seeded 6th. Ethan Lenters ran a great first leg, putting the Eagles in first place. Reuben Wiering then put on a furious kick to pass a runner who had passed him. Jonah Knoester ran with shear guts down the stretch to keep the Eagles in contention. He handed the baton to Jordan Rodgers who ran an incredible anchor leg to hold off two other teams. The first place finish netted the Eagles 10 points to end the meet.

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles needed a huge race in the final event to overtake Catholic Central for third. And that they did! The 4x400 relay team took first place, the only first for the Eagles this day and moved into third. The team of Ethan Lenters, Reuben Wiering, Jonah Knoester, and Jordan Rodgers, set a PR of 3:28, and move on to the finals. Winning the team score was FHE with 156, Wayland 2nd with 99, and GRCHS third with 80. Ethan also qualified in the 100 meters. Jordan also qualified in the long jump, and Reuben also qualified in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. The Eagles 4x100 team of Gabe Armstead, Aaron Gholston, Henry Streeter, and Lenters advanced by time. But, perhaps the most impressive event of the night was the 3200 meter run when an unprecedented 13 area boys advanced by time including the Eagles Simon Triezenberg and Joe Waalkes.  The MHSAA division 2 track & field finals are June 3 at Forest Hills Eastern.

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles took 3rd in the OK White JV meet. Highlights of the meet included our sprinters when Andrew Overvoorde took 2nd in the 100 meters and UMaree Talley took first in the 200. Then UMaree teamed up with Ian Cambell, Sam Minito, and Aedyn Porter to win the 4x100 relay.  On the distance side, Keegan Hoekstra too 2nd in the 800, Calvin Brinks won the 1600, and Nathan Baker won the 3200. All three set PR's.  The Eagles compete in regionals Friday at Sparta.

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles finished 2nd in the 2 day OK white conference meet and also ended in 2nd place for the season. Host Byron Center placed first with 148 points, the Eagles were second with 102.5 points, and EGR third with 84 points.  Field event highlights included Tony Phillips 8th place in the shot put and  Dono Thames 7th place in the Long Jump. But the most impressive field event was the high jump, where the Eagles got PR's from each jumper and all 4 athletes scored. Simon VandenBroek was first jumping 6'3", Dono Thames third jumping 6'0", and Andrew Overvoorde and U'Maree Taley took 4th and 8th with jumps of 5'7" The running event highlights included Ethan Lenters 2nd in the 100 and 2nd on the 4x400 team along with teammates Reuben Wiering, Nathan Baker, and Jonah Knoester. Reuben also won the 1600, was 3rd in the 800, and 2nd on the 4x800 relay team along with Nathan,  Simon Triezenberg, Joe Waalkes. Simon also won the 3200 meter run and was 3rd in the 1600. Dewayne Goree continued his comeback by placing 3rd in the 110 hurdles. The Eagles head to Sparta Friday for regionals.

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles needed to score big in the final 3 events in order to pull out a victory in the rain at Greenville. First Henry Streeter and Andrew Overvoorde went 1st and 2nd in the 200, then Keegan Hoekstra and Jonathan Koetje took 1st and 2nd in the 3200. These two event results put the Eagles up by 1 point with just the 4x400 relay left. The team of Reuben Wiering, Nathan Baker, Joe Waalkes, and Simon Triezenberg brought home the win and the team victory.   On the field event side, Jordan Rodgers had a great meet winning both the long jump and the high jump where he PR'ed with a 6'1" jump.

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles won a pair of dual meets Wednesday at home, beating Forest Hills Northern by 55 points and Northview by 74 points. There were numerous PR's on the night, with 10 alone in the 100 meter dash. Some of the highlights on the night included Ethan Lenters winning the 100 meter dash in a PR time of 11.36, Jordan Rodgers running a PR in the 400 in 52.67, after jumping 6' for the first time in the high jump, Simon Triezenberg running first place  PR 800 time of 2:03, and Tony Phillips breaking the 40' barrier in the shot put, winning with a toss of 40'7". Earlier in the night he also PR'ed in the discus breaking 100' for the first time with a throw of 103'.The Eagles travel to Greenville Monday for the final league dual of the season.

The Eagles finished 5th in the EGR classic Saturday. There were several PR's and highlights on the day. Simon VandenBroek continued to shine, easily winning the high jump. The distance medley relay team of Simon Triezenberg, Jonah Knoester, Nathan Baker, and Reuben Wiering also took first place as Reuben put on a blistering kick over the final 200 meters. The sprint medley relay ended 2nd in a tight finish with Jonah, Henry Streeter, Sam Minito, and Gabe Armstead racing the 1200 meters. Dewayne Goree returned to the track to finish 4th in the 110 hurdles. Jacob Voetberg was able to PR and crack the 5 minute 1600, running to a 4th place finish in 4:58. Joe Waalkes and Keegan Hoekstra PR'ed in the 3200 running 9:54 and 10:02 respectively.  The Eagles return to action at home Wednesday. Field events start at 4:15 and running at 4:45.

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles split a pair of track meets Wednesday, beating FHN 112.5 to 24.5, but losing to BC 85-52. Ethan Lenters led the sprinters with 2 seconds in the 100 and 200 ( PR ). Jonathan Koetje went wire to wire in the 3200 running a PR time of 10:14. Right behind him, and completing the sweep in the event, were Peter Kuperus and Joe Waalkes, running 10:17 and 10:18. Other highlights included Freshman Sean Ryan running a PR 1600 in 4:46, while Caebre Baty set another PR in the 300 hurdles by running 45.93. Field event PR's were set by Tony Phillips in the shot ( 38'1" ), Tyrese Moody in the disc ( 113'6" ), and Donno Thames in the long jump ( 19'3" )

Eagles Lose: -
A storm rolled through Lowell causing the meet to be postponed with two events left. However, FHC has amassed enough points to win the meet over the Eagles, while the meet against Lowell is still undecided. Highlights of the meet thus far included Ethan Lenters winning the 100 meters, Reuben Wiering taking the 1600, Simon Vandenbroek winning the high jump, and Jordan Rodgers winning the long jump.  The Eagles need to dominate the 3200 run and win the 4x400 relay to beat Lowell, so stay tuned....

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles took first place at the Christian schools meet Saturday at Unity. Highlights for the Eagles field events included a first place in the disc by Jaylin Garcia, and first for Jordan Rodgers in the long jump. The only running event winner was Reuben Wiering in the 800, but Eagle sprinters dominated the sprints with Ethan Lenters, Jordan Rodgers, and Henry Streeter going 2, 4, 5. Henry then went second in the 200, while Jordan and Ethan claimed 3rd and 4th in the 400. The Eagles head to Lowell Wednesday in another conference tri.
