Despite the Eagles Boys Bowling team struggles to find their line they won the first Baker game and tied the second game at 115 each. This is where we really learned the value of one single pin. The Boys entered the regular games with a nice lead up 8-2. The struggles to find the very tight line continued during the first regular game where the boys took only one point ane the lead shifting to Lowell 10-9. The Boys mounted a come back to take 6 points in the second game to tie the match 15-15. One single pin could have tipped the game with way in the second Baker Game. Great job by the boys staying focused on the tough conditions.

Boys Varsity Bowling compete in Zeeland Baker Tournament

I've been asked a number of times, "What is a Baker game?" A Baker Bowling game is when 5 members of a bowling team shoot one game together. The first Bowler shoots the first and 6th frame, the second bowler shoots the 2nd and the 7th frame and so on, until the single game is complete. This compares to a regular game, where a bowler shoots all ten frames. With that explanation, the Boys competed in the Zeeland Baker Tournament on Saturday. This a vey fun tournament as there is a lot of movement since the bowler shift lanes after each of the 10 games played in qualifying. The boys had some really nice games and some games where we struggled. The boys ended up winning 6 of their 10 qualifying matches to get seeded 11th in match play. The Boys were matched up against a solid Thornapple Kellogg team. Our Eagles bowled gave it a great run and ended being eliminated in the first round by 15 pins. TK went on to the semi finals where they were eliminated by the Tournament champions of Mona Shores. Good effort by our Eagles Boys!

The Boys Varsity Bowling Team kicked off the season competing in the East Kentwood Classic. This tournament typically provides for some strong competition and this year was no different. This season, we have a very new team after graduating most of the varsity team last year. The boys matched up well with some very experienced teams finishing 9th out of 12, missing the cut by 366 pins. 23 more pins per game would have put the Team in matchplay. Congratulations to Zeke Heerema for shooting 224, 202 for 426 series and taking the 3rd place All Tournament Team medal.
