2020 Girls Golf Seniors

From left to right:  Anna  VanDenHeuvel, Grace Poortenga, Ryann Breslin, Allison Quist, Annika Smits, Clara Tolsma, Edie VanderLeek

We asked our girls golf seniors a few questions and this is what each of them chose to share:

Ryann Breslin
Parents:  Jasmine and Scott Breslin

Ryann’s favorite memory of playing golf for the Eagles was collecting over 10 caterpillars at the state tournament junior year!  Her biggest practice challenge was staying focused when  Taylor is there! :)   Ryan’s favorite coach quote is “Cuddle up” (huddle up but he said it wrong the first time)

Ryann has not decided where she will attend college, but has interests in political science, architecture, business, and medicine.  If she plays a sport in college it will be golf.

Ryan’s favorite Bible verse: After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.  Revelation 7:1

Allison Quist
Parents: Brian and Kristy Quist

Allison’s favorite memory of playing golf for the Eagles was going to Ludington last season and spending time with her teammates both in and out of practice. Also, there was that time she got hit in the head with a golf ball…   Her biggest practice challenge was keeping positive when she had a bad round or even a bad shot.  Her favorite coach quotes always started with "When I was in Indonesia..."

Allison hasn’t decided where she is going to college, but plans to major in chemistry or biology.

Allison’s favorite Bible verse: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”  Psalm 23:4

Annika Smits
Parents: Jeff and Lorelei Smits

Annika’s favorite memory of playing golf for the Eagles was either almost losing my club multiple times at Cascade and losing my sand wedge in Ludington, or putting and chipping for money with Coach Bok.  Her biggest challenge for practice was walking up the giant hill from the par 3 course after practice.

Annika plans to attend either University of Michigan or Michigan State and will major in graphic or interior design and possibly minor in Spanish.

Clara Tolsma
Ed and Melanie Tolsma

Clara’s favorite memory of golf was traveling to and staying overnight with the team in Ludington for their tournament!  Her biggest practice challenges were the long distance putting competitions. Her favorite coach quote is from Coach Bok: "It's just a chip and a putt!"

Clara plans to attend Calvin University and will have a double major in Biology (Neuroscience Concentrated) and Spanish.  If she plays a sport in college it will be golf.

Her favorite Bible verse: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Anna VanDenHeuvel
Parents: Marion and Howard VanDenHeuvel

Anna’s favorite part of playing golf for the Eagles was how the team gets along and how they would all make golf practice fun and have laughs.  Her biggest practice challenge was climbing the big hill on the south 9.  Her favorite coach quote”  “You swing like a baby.”

Anna plans to attend Grand Rapids Community College and then transferring to Baker College in Muskegon to finish her degree as a Veterinarian Technician

Anna’s favorite Bible verse is actually the whole chapter of Revelations 21.

Edie VanderLeek
Parents: Scott and Melissa VanderLeek

Edie’s favorite memories of playing golf for the Eagles were the team bonding that happened outside of practice or matches.

Edie is undecided yet about where she will attend college after graduation.

Her favorite Bible verse is “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” Psalm 46:10
