Parents: Errol and Marissa Baty
Christian is a 2-year letter winner in boys basketball. His favorite memory was the team retreat at Camp Henry when he and his fellow seniors saw a shadow at night when walking and they ran to the car to hide until Coach Taylor came to get them. Next year Christian will be attending Michigan State University and will major in biochemistry with a minor in Spanish with the intent to become part of the Charles Drew Scholars Program in the College of Natural Science.
Christian’s favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned, struck down, but not destroyed.”
Parents: Alisha Brown and Dennis Boyd. Donovan is a 2-year varsity player for boys basketball. His favorite memory was going to Florida with the team, even though they all got sick! Next year, Donovan is undecided on which college he will attend, but he plans to study business. His advice for teammates is always make your layups, and as Coach Jimmy says, “Stop dipsy doodling around.”
Donovan’s favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Kobe is a 4-year letter winner in boys basketball. His favorite memory is being able to walk out on the floor of the Orlando Magic’s NBA arena when the team went to Florida last season. Next year Kobe will continue his basketball career and education at the University of Michigan, studying business and marketing. He would like to remind all the players coming up to get to work early and often and remind them to not wait until after your freshman year to get serious about school or your life.
Kobe’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”
Parents: Cindy and Dan VanderKodde. Marcellus is a 2-year letter winner in boys basketball. His favorite memory is the feeling you get when you win a game on Friday night after all the hard work you put in. Next year, Marcellus plans to attend Otterbein University to continue his football career and study business and economics.

Sam is a 3-year letter winner in boys basketball. His favorite memory is going to the RDV sports complex during his junior season enjoying time with the team at an Orlando Magic game and Universal Studios. Next year, Sam will continue his basketball career at Hope College, while studying business and marketing. Sam would like to thank his teammates, his coaches, and parents for all the support and guidance along his basketball and spiritual journey.
Sam’s favorite verse is from Nehemiah 2:18 “Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; and the king's words that had been spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.”
