The wrestlers competed in a very difficult district at Lowell HS Saturday and two individuals placed fourth which qualifies them for Regionals.
Freshman Caleb Pugh (23-8) avenged a loss from one week ago against his opponent from Lowell on his way to a fourth place finish. Caleb's day started with a pin in the opening round. In the quarterfinal match, he lost to the eventual third place finisher. Caleb won his first consolation match by a fall. Caleb needed to win his next match to advance to Regionals and his next opponent was familiar as Caleb had lost to him a week ago at the OK White conference tournament. Caleb came out strong and built a 4-0 lead before pinning his opponent from Lowell with 2 seconds remaining in the match.
Junior Will Owens (24-9) beat his opponents on their feet, scoring 10 takedowns while only allowing 1. Will pinned his first round opponent and won by major decision (12-2) in the quarterfinals. He lost to the eventual champion in the semifinals. With his back against the wall in the blood round, he secured a 16-1 technical fall to advance to regionals.
