The Varsity Eagle Soccer team hosted the Jenison Wildcats for a midday match on Saturday at Eagle Stadium. The Eagles jumped out early, getting on the board when senior Nick Cassiday took a short corner kick and dribbled past several Wildcats before slotting the ball neatly into the far post of the goal after just 3-minutes of play. The Eagles controlled the tempo of the match with their crisp passing and found the net aagain as senior Grant Hassenrik made a hard run to the endline with the ball and flipped it back to sophomore Jackson Mindling for a shot that senior Xavier Wright ultimately flicked past the Jenison goalkeeper to raise the halftime lead to 2-0. 

The second half picked-up where the first left off with the Eagle controlling the play and creating shots on the Wildcats goal. 67-minutes into the match, Cassiday found the net for a second time off a neat pass from fellow senior Ben Kuiper. Just 5-minutes later, the Eagles doubled their halftime tally when Mindling was on the receiving end of a Cassiday through ball and was able to put it away past a sprawling Wildcat goalkeeper. 

The Eagles are home for two key OK-White matches this week, hosting Greenville on Tuesday and Forest Hills Northern on Thursday. Both matches will be held at 4:30 pm at Gainey Athletic Complex.
