With First Place in the OK-Gold on the line the Eagles lost decidedly to EGR 7-1.  The team is grateful to have another opportunity to play the Pioneers in the Conference Tournament, but really missed a chance to set themselves up for a run to the State Finals with a win over a quality opponent.

Many of the flights dropped a quick first set and then realized they could compete, battling back to take leads at every Doubles flight.  However, it was not enough, as the Eagles could not sustain their level of play and finish off the set.

At #1 Doubles, Junior Grant Moorhead and Sophomore Tanner Warners continue their stellar campaign, as they were the lone victory.  Facing off against the Defending State Champion at #1 Doubles from last year in Ryan Post and #2 Doubles All-State mention Jack Schultze, the tandem took it to the Pioneers in the first set, shredding them 6-1.  EGR raised their level in the second set, fighting back to take the third set 6-3.  In the third and final set the Eagles went down a quick break of serve 1-3.  After making some tactical changes the Eagles fought back but still found themselves down 4-5 and had to fight off 4 ridiculous match points before going up 6-5 and serving out the match.  

The Eagles host Northview today at home before traveling to Midland to take on two Top 10 Division 2 ranked teams and a Top 5 Division 3 ranked team in Dow, Traverse City Central, and St. Joe.  GO EAGLES!
