Grand Rapids Christian vs. Parma Western and Spring Lake

Match Recap and Results

1 Singles: Callum Campbell

Callum keeps his cool and has his mind clear when competing for every point. He played aggressively today and did not give his opponents an easy match. He is mentally strong and committed to playing every point with determination and strategy. He focused today on attacking the opposition's backhand and making his opponent move more by changing the ball's direction or hitting with more angles. Callum got very close to defeating Spring Lake in a deciding tiebreaker, and the match could have gone either way. He also played Parma Western tough but was defeated by a strong opponent.

2 Singles: Isaiah Bos

Isaiah is starting to develop into a very "natural" singles player and is constructing points well. He is always looking for an opportunity to go to the net and put pressure on his opponent. Isaiah did a great job getting more comfortable swinging his racket faster to get a higher pace ball back. He also placed more speed, and angle on his volley's when he went to the net. Parma Western won, and Isaiah almost closed his match against Spring Lake with a two-point difference.

3 Singles: Elijah Compagner match against Parma Western

Elijah played with confidence and kept the ball deep. He also had the goal of making most of his first serves and getting that one extra ball over the net. Elijah's experience from his match will significantly benefit him for future matches. Parma Western got the win over Elijah. Outstanding commitment to go after every ball, Elijah. Keep up the excellent work.

3 Singles: Richard VerHoef match against Spring Lake

Richard walked onto the court with a plan of simply making his opponent hit one extra ball and forcing his opponent to make the first mistake. Richard played very competitively and has been working hard to get lower under the ball by bending his knees more. He is also developing the skill to attack short balls more aggressively. He fell short in a third-set tiebreaker against Spring Lake by 4 points. Keep up the good work, Richard.

4 Singles: Spencer Slagboom

Spencer adapted to many different tennis strategies today and gave his opponents a lot of "curve balls" to deal with. He played a variety of shots and kept his opponent guessing. Parma Western won, and Spencer fell short by 2 points in the tiebreaker against Spring Lake. Spencer is on his way to becoming a master of variety in this game. Great work, Spencer.

1 Doubles: Taeheon (George) Kwon / Julian Seger

George and Julian played competitively and put a lot of pressure on their opponents at the net. They worked hard to target the backhand, serve more aggressively, and rally across the court. Parma Western and Spring Lake got the win over the Eagles.

2 Doubles: Adam Workman / Alejandro ( Alex) Monto Sobrino

Adam and Alex played very aggressive tennis and had a lot of pace on their balls. Both worked hard to find opportunities to hit the open court and finish points at the net. Parma Western got the win, but the Eagles were able to get the win against Spring Lake. Great work, Eagles.

3 Doubles: Caleb Nykamp / Josh VanSchepen

Josh and Caleb learned some new tennis rules as they battled through two competitive matches. They invest all their energy and will to get every ball back, and it shows. Josh is very aggressive at the net, and Caleb controls the backcourt with his groundstrokes. The Eagles lost against both schools in a deciding tiebreaker with only a two-point difference.

4 Doubles: Nate Scheffler / Nathanial Zwart

Nate and Nathanial worked very hard today and played strategic tennis. They communicated with one another, focused on what to do against their opponents, and then executed it. The Eagles got the win over Spring Lake and Parma Western.

5 Doubles: Alex Amash/ Andrew Leonard

6 Doubles: BJ Apol/ Bradley Buter
