Eagles volleyball had a very successful weekend, winning the Rockford Rock and Rumble volleyball tournament. The Eagles started the day off strong beating Allendale in two quick sets. They Moved on to play Rockford High School winning in Three exciting games: 26-24, 18-25, and 15-9. Defense was a big part of the success against the Ram’s big offensive. Kayden Warren led the team in blocks with an impressive 6 total blocks and 2 solo blocks. Madison Peal led in the back row with 21 total digs followed by Rachel Larsen. After the two wins against the Falcons and the Rams the Eagles moved on to the gold bracket playing the Vikings of Lake Odessa. The team persevered beating the Vikings: 29-31, 25-22, and 15-11. Grace Goodyke had had a big game on offense with 15 kills and a hitting percentage of .310. Both Hanna Bredeweg and Grace Spoelma led with an impressive 15 assists setting the team up for success against #3 ranked Lake Odessa. The Eagles finished the day with a win against the Red Arrows of Lowell High School winning: 27-25, 25-22. The Eagles led in first contacts with a passing average of 2.1. Lucy VanDrunen led the Eagles at the service line with 2 aces. Hanna Bredeweg finished the first set with a service run of 7, pushing the Red Arrows into overtime and securing the win for the Eagles. The team plays their next match against Forest Hills Eastern at home Tuesday September 5. GO EAGLES!
