The Eagles had the opportunity to travel to Jenison High School to play in the Jenison Invitational this weekend. The Eagles ended up placing 3^rd going 4-1. The team started the morning playing Zeeland West where they won both sets 25-21. The Eagles moved on to play South Christian winning again 25-17 and 25-18. This game marked an incredible milestone for Senior Setter Grace Spoelma as she reached 1000 career assists. She was supported throughout the match by her teammates and the passing efforts of Madison peal, Mallory Bremer and Hanna Bredeweg who had a passing average of 2.4. The Eagles ended the morning by taking first place in their pool after another exciting win against Byron Center. The Eagles had an incredible game winning in two sets with scores of 26-24 and 25-18. Together the team accomplished a hitting efficiency of .349 and 7 total blocks. They were led by Rachel Larsen on serve receive with a perfect 3.0 passing average. Defense was led by Savannah Bol with 3 blocks and Hanna Bredeweg with 7 digs. The team moved on to the gold bracket where they won the quarterfinal game against Holland Christian 25-22 and 25-16. The team dominated at the service line with aces from Alayna McGowan, Ella Boorsma, Grace Goodyke, Rachel Larsen and three aces from Lucy VanDrunan. The team eventually fell to number seven ranked Jenison high school 0-2 after a long day of high energy play. The next match for the Eagles will be their Senior Night, October 10 at 6:00pm against Greenville High School.
