Varsity Boys Lacrosse

The Eagles Laxers invaded the nest of the Zeeland Birds (this is the combined team of the Zeeland East HS Chix and the Zeeland West HS Dux), and the feathers flew! Unfortunately, they were Eagle feathers. The boys once again struggled offensively to possess the ball, and if you don't possess you can't score. The Bird's defense pushed out hard on the young Eagles and clipped their wings.

Sometimes when you are not seeing much success as a team, it is hard to find the good, but there is good in this group. This is a very young team, the average age is 10th grade, and while you do not have to be big to play lacrosse it helps to have some body mass to work with, and no one will tell you this group is overweight. They continue to work hard in practice and have a great attitude. Success will come if you keep doing the little things consistently and right. 

There were some shining spots in the game, West Catholic midfielder, Colin Wildman was an absolute house on Defense last night matching feet with the best Birds, forcing numerous turnovers, and limiting their shot opportunities. Also stellar was Freshman Ben Toly at the faceoff X. The Head Referee of last's night's game was shocked to find out his lack of lacrosse experience, and age. The two Eagle goals went to Luke Afman and Blake Grieve, with Blake assisting on Luke's Gino.
