The wrestling team lost ot Byron Center 6-78 at Team District Wednesday night. Andre Irving was the lone winner for the Eagles improving his record to 24-12.

Andre Irving placed third in the OK Gold Tournament Friday night. After losing his first match he came back to pin his second opponent in 2:24 and won by tech fall (17-1) in his third match. No other Eagles placed.
Wrestling vs. Northview and Three Rivers

The wrestlers lost to Northview 15-54 and also lost to Three Rivers 18-60. All four Eagle wrestlers won at least one match Wednesday night. Sam Vandenbroek and Isaiah Luk both went 1-1. Adam Persanaire went 2-0 with a 1:36 pin over his opponent from Northview. Andre Irving pinned his opponent from Three Rivers in 2:34. Against his opponent from Northview Andre found himself down 4-8 early in the second period and battled back to a gritty 15-12 decision. The Eagles are at Forest Hills Eastern on Friday night for the OK Gold Conference Tournament.

Four eagle wrestlers competed in the Kelloggsville Invite Saturday. as a team they finished 8th out of 10 teams, ahead of schools with twice as many participants. Individually, Sam Vandenbroek placed fourth in his weight class. Andre Irving also placed fourth in his weight class which included soe of the best wrestlers in the state.

The wrestling team traveled to Shepherd on Saturday. Two Eagle wrestlers placed in the top eight in the 19 team tournament, Sam Vandenbroek went 2-2 on the day and placed 8th. Andre Irving placed 5th with a 4-1 record..

Three Eagle wrestlers competed against Wyoming and Hamilton. Andre Irving started the wrestlers out with a thrilling 16-13 victory. Sam Vandenboek also contributed to the team points with a 3:04 pin over his opponent. The Eagles fell to the Wolves 9-60. The wrestlers also lost to Hamilton 0-72.

The wrestlers hosted 7 other teams Saturday. The Eagles defeated Benton Harbor 19-18 and lost to Coopersville, Unity Christian, Ottawa Hills, and Coopersville B. Andre Irving led teh Eagles with 4 wins and 1 loss. The best match of the day was Andre's come from behind victory over Coopersville.

The Eagle wrestlers lost to EGR 12-48. Two of five Eagle wrestlers came away with victories. Freshman De'Mere Andrews-Harris and Derrek Dykema both won their matches.
After wrestling EGR the Eagles grappled against Zeeland West. De'Mere and Derrek were once again the two victorious Eagles in a 10-63 defeat.

Five Eagle wrestlers competed against Forest Hills Eastern and Byron Center Wednesday night. Three of teh five wrestlers won their match against the Hawks, Derrek Dykema, Andre Irving and Tim Schoon were all winners. The final score was 15-60 in favor of the Hawks. After wrestling Forest Hills Eastern the wrestlers competed against Byron Center. Andre Irving and Tim Schoon both won their match. the Final score was 9-66.

The wrestling team place 13 out of 15 teams at the Unity Christian Invitational Saturday. Freshman De'Mere Andrews-Harris lead the team by going 2-2 on the day with 6 takedowns and quickest pin of 1:34. The Eagle wrestlers are at Forest Hills Eastern Wednesday at 6:00.

The wrestling team lost to Thornapple-Kellogg and Zeeland East Wednesday night. The lone Eagle to score team points was Sam Vandenbroek. Freshman Adam Persanaire lost a close match against Zeeland East 10-11. The Eagles next compete on January 4.

The Eagle wrestlers competed in the 12 team St Ignace Lions Club Invitational on Saturday. Four of the five wrestlers who participated placed in the top four of their weight class. Freshman Adam Persenaire and Junior Derrek Dykema both placed third. Freshman Isaiah Luk and Junior Andre Irving both placed fourth. The wrestlers compete next on Wednesday evening at Thornapple Kellogg High School.

The Eagle wrestling team started their season Wednesday night by hosting Wyoming Lee and Ottawa Hills. After giving up 48 points due to forfeits, the Eagle wrestlers won two matches and lost to matches to make the final score 12-60. Andre Irving and Derrek Dykema both won their match. The Eagles then wrestled the Ottawa Hills Bengals. They lost 9-36. Derrek Dykema and Adam Persanaire both won their match. The wrestling team heads to St Ignace this weekend to wrestle in an individual tournament.
