A rough 3rd inning for the Eagles ran the score nearly untouchable, yet they kept pushing along. Grand Rapids Christian Eagles Freshman Baseball win first game against Greenville, 9-0, in Game 1 An outstanding pitching performance from Isaac Anderson behind Greenville High School and the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles freshman baseball team beat the Greenville Yellow Jackets with a final score of 9-0 in Game 1. Anderson went the full five innings, allowing a single hit (in the last inning), all while going for 15 strikeouts. Anderson only threw 63 total pitches. It took an inning to get the Eagles going, but they finished with nine runs on seven hits in the last four innings. This time, it was Connor Johnson shutting out Greenville with a final score of 10-0 in Game 1. Grand Rapids Christian Eagles Freshman Baseball falls to East Grand Rapids , 6-5, in Game 1 Another close loss out at the Gainey Athletic Complex, the freshmen Grand Rapids Christian Eagles baseball team was defeated by the East Grand Rapids Pioneers with a final score of 6-5. Despite a four-run deficit in the 4th inning, the Eagles almost fought all the way back, tying it in the bottom of the same inning. That four-run inning was led by a single by Luke Ekkens, a single by Isaac Anderson, and a single by Brandt Alles. East Grand Rapids scored on a fielder's choice in the top of the 5th inning to win.  Pitching: Will Bush made his first high school start on the mound and pitched 2.2 innings. Ike Ondersma came in relief and finished the remaining 2.3 innings. The Eagle pitchers and the defense behind them held the Pioneer hitters to only five hits.   Hitting: Four different Eagles smacked hits - Anderson (2-3, 2 RBI), Alles (2-3, RBI), Luke Olney (1-2, 2B), and Ekkens (1-2, RBI) Connor Johnson stole 2 bases and Tyler Zeck scored two runs

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles Freshman Baseball slow down against East Grand Rapids, 6-3, in Game 2 Another solid pitching performance from the Eagle pitchers at Gainey Athletic Complex, but the freshmen Grand Rapids Christian Eagles baseball team lost to the East Grand Rapids Pioneers with a final score of 6-3 in Game 2. A heartbreaker, as the Eagles had their first lead of the season early on, but East Grand Rapids kept swinging. One inning here, and one run there, made it a close game, and eventually gained them the lead, for the Pioneers. The Eagles made some solid defensive plays to stop the Pioneer runners from scoring early on.  Pitching: Luke Olney pitched nearly a complete game, only walking one Pioneer through 4.1 innings. Isaac Anderson made his first high school pitching appearance, coming in relief to finish up the game in a couple of pitches.    Hitting: Will Bush smoked an RBI double  Four Eagle runners stole two bases: Connor Johnson, Brandt Alles, Bush, and Cohen Koops

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles Freshman Baseball falls to Jenison Wildcats, 4-3, in season opener A close one out at the Gainey Athletic Complex, the freshmen Grand Rapids Christian Eagles baseball team was defeated by the Jenison Wildcats with a final score of 4-3. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Eagles scored on a wild pitch to tie it up at 1-1. Jenison then got off to a hot start in the 3rd, scoring two runs, and added a fourth run in the 4th inning. However, the Eagles kept plugging along and scored two runs to keep it close in the bottom of the 5th inning. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.   Pitching: Ike Ondersma started the game and pitched 2.1 innings while striking out 5 Wildcat batters. Will Bush came in relief, pitching 1.2 innings and striking out another.  Jonas Mulder filed in at the end of the game and pitched a shutout 5th inning. The Eagle pitchers held the Wildcats hitters to only six hits.   Hitting: Five different Eagles smacked hits - Isaac Anderson, Bush, Connor Johnson, Ondersma, and Mulder (a double). Mulder also added two stolen bases.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles Freshman Baseball loses game 2 to Jenison Wildcats, 14-1, in late night finish A late night finish for the Gainey Athletic Complex, the freshmen Grand Rapids Christian Eagles baseball team was downed by the Jenison Wildcats in Game 2 with a final score of 14-1. The Eagles scored early, and held on through the 1st inning, but things got out of hand with some hot Wildcat bats in the 2nd and 4th innings.    Pitching: Luke Olney started the game and pitched the first 2 innings Brandt Alles came in relief, pitching 1.2 innings and striking out two Wildcats.  Connor Johnson finished the last out needed with eight pitches.   Hitting: Isaac Anderson, Will Bush, and Dane Fitzgibbon added to their season hit totals. Anderson also stole a base.
