Girls Freshman Basketball Finished Their Season vs. Unity Christian

Eagles Lose: 28.00 - 44.00
The freshman basketball team finished their incredible season Thursday night against a strong Unity team. Addie Rodenhouse and Esther King had the first baskets of the game, assisted by Adelyn Breuninger. Breuninger had the hot hand in the second, sinking 3 buckets along with a score from Ella Johnson. Reese Mersman also scored down the stretch. Zuly Lathouwers set up her teammates well all game and Hannah VanAllen and Jazlyn Feyen worked hard to force turnovers and get rebounds. Rodenhouse finished as the high scorer with 10 points while also adding 10 boards, a humble double double. It was an amazing season for these freshmen and they have so much to be proud of.

The freshman Eagles fought a tight one Tuesday night and came out with yet another win. Esther King and Zuly Lathouwers were the hot hands out of the gate, scoring all 10 points in the first quarter. Adelyn Breuninger commanded the offense all game and found some shots herself in the second, she ended with 4 three pointers and the game high of 12. Lathouwers followed with 8 and helped keep the Eagles controlled to come out with a victory. The girls have one game left Thursday at home against Unity.

The girls freshman team had a great finish Thursday night at the home of the Rangers! After a slow start the Eagles found their pace, forcing steals and getting baskets in transition. Adelyn Breuninger led the offensive and defensive charge leading the scoring column with 11 and notching double digit steals as well. Zuly Lathouwers was electric as well and also tallied 7 points. Alexis Willis went 4 from 4 from the stripe and Maya Merritt, Addie Rodenhouse, and Jazlyn Feyen added big baskets as well. Great night for the Eagles.

Adelyn Breuninger emerged as the leading scorer for the Eagles, contributing an impressive 14 points to the scoreboard. Dawes, showcased her talent with 8 points, including the crucial final basket. Zuly Lathouwers also made significant contributions to the team's success, adding 6 points and tenacious defense. Addie Rodenhouse chipped in 4 and Esther King had 5.

Eagles Win: 25.00 - 15.00
The freshmen Eagles faced a scrappy Northview squad in their game Thursday night. While it was a battle of grit and toughness, the Eagles came out on top. Adelyn Breuninger and Zuly Lathouwers paced the offense with great steals on defense. Keira Dawes was on top of the rebounding and scoring columns finishing with a double double. Dawes scored 17 points and tallied 10 rebounds, giving the Eagles more than enough to fly by the Wildcats. The girls are back next week on Wednesday night!

Eagles Lose: 39.00 - 43.00
The Freshman Eagles had a great showing Tuesday night against a talented Byron Center team. Adelyn Breuninger was a needed spark from the start with great steals in transition. Keira Dawes was a big impact player on both ends of the court despite a battle with fouls. Esther King, Addie Rodenhouse and Ella Johnson each added multiple baskets and rebounds. Zuly Lathouwers continues to add a pace that is very hard for other teams to handle and added some baskets as well. It was a great team effort and included a lot to be proud of. Breuninger and Dawes ended as the leading scorers!

Eagles Win: 41.00 - 23.00
The freshmen girls ran into battle from the first buzzer Friday night. From Keira Dawes winning the opening tip off to the final basket of the game, the Eagles were on top. Their high defensive pressure proved too strong for the Rangers and baskets from Zuly Lathouwers, Hannah VanAllen, Esther King, Jazlyn Feyen, Ella Johnson, and Adelyn Breuninger helped the girls pull ahead going into halftime up 24. After a slow 3rd quarter, the Eagles stayed up 19 and held that all the way through. Dawes finished as the leading scorer with 13!

Eagles Win: 38.00 - 30.00
The freshman Eagles got the lone win of the evening with a hot start against the Red Arrows. The 1-2 punch of Adelyn Breuninger and Keira Dawes struck yet again, putting the Eagles far ahead right away. Zuly Lathouwers pace on defense and Addie Rodenhouse's boards also contributed to the girls going into halftime up 11. While Lowell found some pace in the 3rd it was not enough to get the Eagles discouraged. Breuninger chipped in 3 more baskets and both assists in the 4th thanks to Esther King's sharpshooting. Breuninger finished as the game high with 15 and Dawes followed with 12. Eagles are back Thursday against FHC.

The freshmen girls basketball team started out hot on Thursday night against the Wildcats thanks to defensive intensity and big buckets from Addy Rodenhouse. Adelyn Breuninger came out sharpshooting in transition and money from the foul line going 4/4 in the second quarter. Esther King, Keira Dawes, Zuly Lathouwers, Jazlyn Feyen, and Ella Johnson all added baskets for an amazing team effort. Rodenhouse finished as the leading scorer with 10 followed by Dawes with 7 and Breuninger with 6.

Eagles Lose: 25.00 - 35.00
The girls freshman team came out shorthanded on Tuesday night with some Eagles on vacation, but fought very hard with a short bench. Keira Dawes caught fire early and dominated the first quarter on both ends, sending the Eagles into the second on top by 5. Adelyn Breuninger found her teammates in transition and helped keep the girls ahead going into the second half. However, the extra legs on the Bulldog side caught up with the Eagles in the third. Despite best efforts to claw back, the girls ended on a loss for the night. Dawes had the big # ending with 15. Ella Johnson was the second leading scorer with 5, including a fan favorite 3 pointer. The Eagles have a break from competition until Friday at Zeeland West.

The freshmen Eagles brought home another dominant win on Tuesday night. The girls were strong and consistent from the beginning, getting off to an early lead. Addie Rodenhouse had big buckets in the first quarter to help the Eagles go up 18-4. Keira Dawes found the basket many times throughout the night, ending as the leading scorer with 19. Adelyn Breuninger led the team in assists and Esther King and Jazlyn Feyen also added baskets! The Eagles will have a nice long break from competition now.

Eagles Win: 53.00 - 35.00
The freshmen Eagles came out hot on Tuesday night against Hudsonville. A unified threat of Keira Dawes and Adelyn Breuninger absolutely dominated high and low down the court. When one was passing, the other was scoring throughout the whole first half. We went into halftime up 19-13, but the third quarter helped the girls solidify their win. Addie Rodenhouse, Lexi Willis and Zuly Lathouwers all added important baskets in the second half while Dawes and Breuninger did not let up. Dawes finished with 27 points, Breuninger with 14 points and 10 assists. The Eagles will get another chance at competition Tuesday at Catholic Central.

Eagles Lose: 32.00 - 37.00
The freshmen Eagles started out their season Tuesday night with a primetime slot in the All City Gym. Despite being a first high school game, you could not tell as the girls came out strong and confident. Alexis Willis ran the floor right away and found two early buckets while also helping the Eagles stop the Sailors in transition. Adelyn Breuninger ran the offense, helping set up her teammates while also adding 7 points herself. Keira Dawes ran the show down low and added her own 7 to pair. While the girls traded baskets all night, they came up just short against a strong South Christian squad. Alexis Willis was the high score on the day with 10 and Addie Rodenhouse also added 6. The Eagles return Thursday against Covenant Christian.
