The top finisher for the Eagles was Natalie VanOtteren with her 3rd place in the 3200 ( 10:54 ) Also running the 3200 was Ellie Scholma ending in 15th place ( 11:20 ) Natalie and Ellie teamed up with Naomi Nelson and Payton Holtz to run a 9:44 4x800 relay and get ninth place. Ife Ayoola set a PR in the shot put of 38'6" and finished 8th. And finally the 4x100 relay team of Paige Ferwerda, Alayna McGowan, Za"Nya Mosely, and Marie Line Henderson took 30th in the event. It should also be noted that Freshmen star Daelyn Jones suffered a hamstring injury just days before the meet and was unable to compete at her usual ability. The Eagles took third in the region and moved several athletes on to the MHSAA finals. Daelyn Jones and Marie Line Henderson took 2nd and 5th in the 100. Daelyn also took 2nd in the 200 and qualified for the finals in both events. Both girls teamed up with Paige Ferwerda and Alayna McGowan to finish 2nd in the 4x100 relay and advance to the finals. Payton Holtz took 8th in the 800, while Natalie VanOtteren was 5th in the 1600 and 2nd in the 3200. Ellie Scholma, Naomi Nelson, and Lucy Waalkes were 5th, 6th, and 8th in the 3200. The 4x800 relay team of Naomi, Ellie, Payton, and Natalie finished 2nd and qualified for the finals. Natalie also qualified in both the 1600 and 3200, and Ellie qualified in the 3200. The 4x400 team of Payton, Ava Boes, Robyn Tatko, and Paige finished 5th. Audrey Brouwer and Anna Lindstrom tied for 8th in the pole vault, while teammate Piper Cebulski was 8th in the high jump. Ife Ayoola was 4th in the discus and 1st in the shot put, advancing to the finals in the shot.
The Eagles traveled to Greenville Monday for the JV OK White meet. Although the meet was not scored as teams, many Eagles earned medals. Caroline Christy took 6th in the 100, 4th in the 200, and 6th in the long jump. Ava Boes ran to 2nd place in the 400, while Robyn Tatko took top honors winning the 800 and qualifying for regionals for her effort. Zoe Hoekstra, Sara Huyser, and Robyn Klein went 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the 1600. Hannah Grace Wildschut and Willa Peterson took 1st and 3rd in the 3200, while Eliana Oren took 2nd in the 100 hurdles. In Field events, Madison Landhere and Nenfot Darshak took 3rd and 4th in the shot put and then Nenfot took 3rd in the disc while teammate Zyia Mickens was 5th. Pole Vaulters Audrey Brouwer and Anna Lindstrom were 1st and 3rd, and then Audrey leaped to a 4th in the long jump with teammate Avery Bergin getting 5th place.
The Eagles compete in regionals this Saturday at Sparta.

The Eagles took both of the dual meets Wednesday topping Greenville and Forest Hills Northern. Piper Cebulski and Grace Goodyke, both Freshmen, once again took the top 2 spots in the high jump. Meanwhile Freshmen classmate Daelyn Jones took first in the 100, the 200, and teamed up with Alayna McGowan, Nenfot Darshak, and Paige Ferwerda to win the 4x100 relay. It should also be noted that Nenfot throws both the shot and disc and PR'ed in both! In longer races, Natalie VanOtteren and Naomi Nelson took the top 2 spots in the 800, and teamed with Vivi Duncan and Ellie Scholma to win the 4x800 relay. Annika TerBeek and Willa Peterson took 1st and 2nd in the nights longest race, the 3200 meter run.
The Eagles are off until next week Wednesday and Thursday when they head to Greenville for the OK White finals.
The Eagles took 3rd place at the Pioneer Classic Saturday at East Grand Rapids. Field event highlights included Ife Ayoola having the top shot put with a toss of 35' 2". Meanwhile, in the high jump, Piper Cebulski leapt 5' 1", a new PR, and tied for first overall in the meet. Together with teammate Grace Goodyke, they took first. There were several running highlights. Daelyn Jones won the 100 meters, then teamed up on two first place relays. The first relay was the 4x100 with teammates Alayna McGowan, Paige Ferwerda, and Nenfot Darshak. The other relay, the sprint medley, was compromised of Daelyn, Paige, Alayna, and Vivi Duncan. The 4 x 3200 meter relay also took first place. Teaming up for the win was Natalie VanOtteren, Lucy Waalkes, Hannah-Grace Wildschut, and Sara Huyser. Lucy and Hannah-Grace both PR'ed running 12:13 and 12:22.
The Eagles close out the league dual meet part of the season on Wednesday at FHN. Field events 4:15 and running 4:45.
The Eagles dropped both meets yesterday at Lowell, losing to the Red Arrows and East Grand Rapids. There were several big performances for the Eagles during the cool spring night. Grace Goodyke tied her season's best high jump, and took first vs Lowell and second vs EGR. Ife Ayoola had another great night at the throws, winning both the shot put and discus. Natalie VanOtteren was well ahead of second place in the 1600 meter run, with her best time of the season. Daelyn Jones not only won the 100 meter and 200 meter, but also joined the 4x100 meter relay with Paige Ferwerda, Alayna McGowan, and Nenfot Darshak, winning the relay in their best top of the year.
The Eagles return to action Saturday at East Grand Rapids for the Pioneer Invitational. Meet begins at 10:00. See you there!!
The Eagles were beaten by Byron Center Wednesday night. Windy conditions prevailed, but the Eagles were still able to have several great performances. Daelyn Jones made her 200 meter debut and won going away. In the pole vault, both Anna Lindstrom and Audrey Brouwer set new PR's with vaults of 8'6" and 8'. Ife Ayoola, Madison Landheer, and Kaylin Lugo all set PR's in the shot put, with tosses of 35'11", 22'11", and 19'5". Ife's was good for first place. In the 800 meter run, the Eagles had four girls with PR times. Ellie Scholma ran 2:31, Lili Tatko 2:47, Hannah-Grace Wildschut 2:47, and Sara Huyser 2:49. In addition, Natalie VanOtteren took first place with Ellie in second. The same two teamed up for a 1-2 finish in the 1600 as well. The Eagles took the top four spots in the 3200 meter run. They were led by Naomi Nelson in first, Zoe Hoekstra in 2nd, Lucy Waalkes in third, and Annika TerBeek in fourth. These same 4 girls teamed up to win the 4x800 relay as well.
The Eagles finished in 4th place at the Christian Schools meet Saturday. Scoring for the Eagles were Alayna McGowan in the 100 meters in 5th place. Daelyn Jones took 3rd in the 400 meter run. The girls 4x800 team of Ellie Scholma, Lucy Waalkes, Annika TerBeek, and Natalie VanOtteren took 3rd place, while Natalie and Ellie finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the 3200 meter run. Their times of 11:20 and 11:40 are the top two times in our regional as of today.
The Eagles travel to Forest Hills Central to take on the defending league champions on Monday. Field events begin at 4:15 and running at 4:45. Come enjoy the beautiful spring weather and cheer on the Eagles!

Ellie Scholma ran the entire 1600 race in first place and never was threatened, while teammate Lucy Waalkes took third. Ife Ayoola took first in the shot put and second in the discus. In the high jump, freshmen Piper Cebulski and Grace Goodyke took first and second for the second time in two OK White meets. Mia Roe vaulted a PR height of 8' in the pole vault.
The Eagles will head to Byron Center on Wednesday to compete in another league match. Field events at 4:15 and running at 4:45.
The Eagles won their first track meet of 2024 by topping league rival Northview 89-48. On a beautiful spring night, the Eagles took first place in several events and secured the win. Event winners were Alayna McGowan in the 100 meters, Daelyn Jones in the 400 meters, Zoe Hoekstra in the 800 meters, Natalie VanOtteren in the 1600 meters, Ellie Scholma in the 3200 meters. Za'Nya Mosley took both hurdle events, the 100 high hurdles and the 300 low hurdles. Field event winners were Piper Cebulski in the high jump and Ife Ayoola in the shot put and discus. The Eagles travel to Forest Hills Central on Thursday to compete again.
