The eagles season came to an end Saturday after a hard faught game against Catholic Central, 8-14. Jaslene McWilliams had the start on the mound, lasting 4 innings surrendering 9 hits, 11 runs (5 earned), 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Rae Cummings came in to start the 5th inning, over two innings she only gave up 3 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 3 walks, and 1 strikeout.
The Eagles started off strong in the top of the first, Rae Cummings, lead off batter, hit a homerun over right center fence. The Eagles proceded to string together 5 more hits to score 5 runs. Bottom of the 1st the eagles went 3 up 3 down with 2 pop outs and a strikeout. Top of the 2nd, Ellie VandeGriend and Keira Porte each had a double that scored another run for the eagles, bringing it to 6-0. GRCC put the bat on the ball and scored 4 but the eagles continued to work at the plate, loading up the bases for Ellie VandeGriend and Jalsene McWilliams to each have a single to each bring in another run, 8-4. The tide turned in the bottom of the 4th when GRCC scored 5 runs and the eagles bats were unable to bring in any more runs the following 3 innings.
Ellie VandeGriend led the offense going 4/5 with two singles, two doubles, 1 RBI, and scoring 2 runs. Greta Holman had 3 hits and 1 RBI. Each having two hits were Rae Cummings, Keira Porte, and Lexi Willis. Each having one hit were Jaslene McWilliams, Karina Mora, and Anna VanHeulen.

The eagles dropped game two 6-17, defensively unable to capitalize in tough situations. Jaslene McWilliams started things off on the mound lasting two innings only giving up 4 hits, 7 runs, and 4 walks. Karina Mora came in for relief only giving up 1 hit, and 4 walks.
At the plate the eagles were able to get things going and move girls around the bases. The eagles captured the lead, 5-3, in the top of the 2nd, ralling with two outs when Rae Cummings double, scoring Addie Rodenhouse, VanHeulen singled, scoring Cummings, and VandeGriend singled scoring VanHeulen. Covenant pushed back in the bottom of the 3rd and forced defensive errors, racking up 8 runs. Ellie VandeGriend hit a solo homerun in the top of the 4th, bringing the score to 6-11. Again Covenant put the Eagles in tough situations and were able to capitalize on it and bring in another 6 runs to finish off the game 6-17.
The Eagles outhit Covenant with 7 hits led by Rae Cummings and Ellie VandeGriend each with 2 hits. Cummings had a single, double, 2 RBIs, and scored 2 runs. VandeGriend hit a single and a homerun, 2 RBIs, and scored 1 run. Anna VanHeulen also had two hits. Addie Rodenhouse had one hit, a double to left center.
The Eagles head to Forest Hills Eastern on Saturday to face off against Grand Rapids Catholic Central for their first District game starting at Noon.
The eagles dropped game one to Covenant 1-11. Covenant scored 6 runs in the bottom of the second that was hard to come back from. Rae Cummings started things off on the mound, lasting 2 innings. Cummings gave up 5 hits, 7 runs (5 earned), 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jaslene McWilliams finished out the remaining 3.2 innings only allowing 3 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 4 walks, and 1 strikeout.
At the plate the eagles put the bat on the ball but struggle to consistently find holes in the defense collecting 7 hits. McWilliams led the team going 3/3 with 3 singles. Keira Porte had 2 hits, a single and double. Alexis Willis hit a double to left center fence and scored the only run off of a sacrifice fly by Addie Rodenhouse. Anna VanHeulen also had one hit.
The Eagles headed to Wyoming high school for a single game match up, unable to come home with a win, losing 0-12 after 5 innings. Jaslene McWilliams started in the circle, giving up 3 hits, 7 runs (2 earned), and walking 2. Rae Cummings came in for relief allowing 5 runs (2 earned), 4 hits, 7 strikeouts, and 3 walks. At the plate the eagles faced a tough senior pitcher from Wyoming and were only able to collect one hit. Rae Cummings hit a triple to right center in the beginning on the first.
The eagles last in season match up is against Covenant Christian on May 29 at Covenant starting at 4:00 PM.
The eagles faced off against Lowell in their last conference matchup Monday evening. The eagles dropped game one 3-13 after 6 innings. Jaslene McWilliams had the start on the mound surrendering 8 hits, 8 runs (7 earned), 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Rae Cumminngs finished off inning 5 and 6 giving up 3 hits, 5 runs (0 earned), 3 walks, and 1 strikeout.
At the plate the Eagles were able to collect 9 hits led by Rae Cummings, Greta Holman, and Ellie VandeGriend each having two hits. Brecken Cole, Jaslene McWilliams, and Anna VanHeulen each had one hit.
The eagles were unable to finish game two vs Lowell due to thunder and lightening. The game was called in the bottom of the 3rd with the eagles trailing 0-13.
Karina Mora had the start on the mound, she gave up 6 hits, 6 runs (2 earned), and 0 walks. Jaslene McWilliams returned on the mound giving up 7 runs (7 earned), 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. Reese Mersman gave in for releif in the top of the 3rd surrendering 1 hit and 1 strikeouts. At the plate the eagles had only collected one hit, a double by Rae Cummings.
The eagles next match up is a single game vs Wyoming on Thursday, May 23 starting at 4:15 PM.
The Eagles faced off against Ottawa Hills for their second matchup at the Ottawa Hils Invitational bringing home the win 21-1. Rae Cummings earned the win on the mound giving up only 1 hit, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
At the plate the eagles were able to collect 11 hits, led by Megan Afman, Rae Cummings, and Karina Mora each having two hits. Afman had a single and a double, 1 RBI, and scored 3 runs. Cummings had a dboule and a triple, with 2 RBIS and scoring 1 run. Mora had two singles that brought in 3 runs and she scored 3 runs. Bri Blankespoor (a double) and Keira Porte each also had one hit.
The Eagles next match up is their last conference game at Lowell on Monday, May 20.
The eagles played in the Ottawa Hills Invitational on Saturday with their first match up against Holland. Holland took an early lead in the top of the first scoring 11 runs. The eagles ran out of time and were unable to come back from that lead dropping their first game 5-12.
Jaslene McWilliams started things off on the mound surrendering 7 hits, 11 runs (3 earned), 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Rae Cummings came in in the top of the second. She held Hollands offense to only scoring 1 more run and 0 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
At the plate the eagles were only able to collect 3 hits, led by Jaslene McWilliams with 2 hits, a single and a double, bringing in all 3 runs. Ellie VandeGriend had the other hit, a double to center field.
Catholic Central took an early lead in the start of game two, scoring 9 in the top of the 1st. After 5 innings the eagles lost game two 3-17. Karina Mora had the start lasting 1 time through the lineup. She gave up 5 hits, 7 runs, and 2 walks. Jaslene McWilliams headed back to the mound for another 4 innings. She gave up 10 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Rae Cummings finished it off in the top of the 5th giving up just 1 hit.
At the plate the eagles collected 5 hits by Brecken Cole, Karina Mora, Keira Porte, Anna VanHeulen, and Ellie VandeGriend.

Scoring two more runs in the bottom of the 4th off of Keira Porte's hit to left field to score McWilliams and Lexi Willis.

The Eagles faced off against South Christian on Saturday dropping game one 0-11. The sailors came out strong, scoring 9 runs in the 1st inning. Rae Cummings started on the mound allowing 2 hits and walking 3. Jaslene McWilliams came in for releif in the 1st inning. McWilliams gave up 2 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), 2 strikeouts, and 3 walks over 3 ⅔ innings.
In the outfield Anna VanHeulen had 4 big catches to get the eagles out of some tough defensive situations. At the plate the eagles struggled to get things going, only collecting 2 hits, both by Ellie VandeGriend. She had a single and a double to right centerfield.
The Eagles dropped game two, 0-22. The Sailor's bats came to life in the second game, racking up 13 hits off of 4 pitchers. Jaslene McWilliams had the start, lasting one time through the lineup. She gave up 6 hits, 7 runs (3 earned), and 2 strikeouts. Karina Mora came in for relief walking 4 and giving up 4 runs. Rae Cummings also gave it a shot on the mound. She gave up 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 strikeout. Finally Reese Mersman came in for the 2nd and 3rd innings. She gave up 5 hits, 10 earned runs, 3 walks, and 1 strikeout.
At the plate the eagles were unable to find holes in the defense. Ellie VandeGriend was the only eagle to make it on base, with a hit by pitch.

The Eagles dropped game two to Spring Lake after 5 innings, 8-19. Jaslene McWilliams had the start for game two on the mound. She lasted 4 innings, giving up 8 hits, 10 earned runs, 5 walks, and 1 strikeout. Karina Mora and Rae Cummings also had their turn on the mound against Spring Lake, however, Spring Lake's tough offense could only be held off for so long. They scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 5th to end the game.

The Eagles had a tough conference match up Tuesday evening vs Northview. The first game resulted in a 0-19 loss. Rae Cummings had the start on the mound. She lasted 2 innings and faced 18 batters. She gave up 9 hits, 10 earned runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Reese Mersman came in for relief, giving up 4 hits, 4 earned runs, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
At the plate the eagles struggled to adjust only collected 5 hits by Rae Cummings, Jaslene McWilliams, Karina Mora, Anna VanHeulen, and Alexis Willis.
The eagles dropped game two to Northview 3-16. Karina Mora had her first varsity start on the mound. She held off Northviews strong offensive lineup from scoring until the 3rd inning. Mora gave up 4 hits, 4 earned runs, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Rae Cummings came back in and had 7 hits, 9 earned runs, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
At the plate the eagles were able to make some adjustments to get girls on base. In response to Northview scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd the eagles loaded the bases. With two outs Addie Rodenhouse hit a line drive to left center for a double that cleared the bases making it a 6-3 game. Northviews bats couldn't be held off much longer scoring 10 in the bottom of the 4th that the eagles couldn't come back from.
Karina Mora led the offense with 2 hits and scoring 1 run. Rae Cummings and Addie Rodenhouse each had one hit as well.
The Eagles next game is this Thursday, May 2nd at Spring Lake starting at 4:00 PM.
The eagles couldn't hold of Comstock park and dropped game one, 8-12. Rae Cummings had the start on the mound. She went 6 ⅓ innings, surrendering 12 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits, striking out 7 and walking 6.
At the plate the team started off strong, collecting 3 runs by Rae Cummings, Karina Mora, and Jaslene McWilliams. Headed into the bottom of the 5th the eagles were down 6-3. The team managed to bat in 3 more runs by Cummings, Mora, and McWilliams to tie it up. Comstock Park wasn't finished and put the preasure on, forcing the eagles to give up 6 runs in the top of the 7th to make the score 12-6. We managed to get two more girls across home, but fell short dropping game one 12-8.
Leading the eagles at the plate was Jaslene McWilliams going 4/4 with 2 RBIs and scoring 2 runs. Lexi Willis and Rae Cummings each had two hits. Each having one hit were Bri Blankespoor, Karina Mora, and Ellie VandeGriend.
The eagles managed to hold off Comstock Park and earn the win 18-17. The mound was shared in game two by Jaslene McWilliams, Reese Mersman, and Rae Cummings. McWilliams had the start giving up 4 hits, 8 runs (2 earned), 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts over 2 innings. Mersman came in for relief for two innings. She gave up 1 hit, 6 runs (0 earned), 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Cummings also pitched two innings, giving up 2 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 4 walks, and 2 stirkeouts.
At the plate the eagles bats were hot collecting 16 hits! Getting on the board right away in the bottom of the first after Ellie VandeGriend Doubled, Jaslene McWilliams tripled, and Anna VanHeulen hit a sac fly, each player scoring one run with a strong 4-0 start. Each inning the eagles continued to chip away at Comstock parks pitchers and defense, scoring every inning except the 6th.

The Eagles faced off against Covenant Christian at home Tuesday evening. The Eagles failed to make adjustments at the plate and take advantage of opportunites to get outs and lost game one 14-1. Rae Cummings had the start on the mound. Cummings lasted 5 ⅓ innings giving up 7 hits, 8 runs (6 earned), striking out four and walking eight. Jaslene McWilliams came in and pitched one inning. She gave up 4 hits, 6 runs (4 earned) and 4 walks. Reese Mersman finished off the game on the mound, with 0 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
At the plate the eagles collected 4 hits, led by freshman Alexis Willis with two hits, a single and a homerun over left centerfield. This is her third homerun this season! Rae Cummings and Jaslene McWilliams each also had one hit.
The eagles swept Lee, taking game two 11-5. Jaslene McWilliams earned the win on the mound giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs over 5 innings, striking out 12 and walking 5.
At the plate the eagles collected 12 hits, led by Ellie VandeGriend with 3 doubles, 1 RBI, and 2 runs. Rae Cummings had two hits, a triple and an in the park home run to right field fence. Also having two hits were Bri Blankespoor (single and a double) and Lexi Willis (2 triples). Each having one hit were Reese Mersman, Karina Mora, and Keira Porte (double).

The eagles won game one vs Lee 6-3. Rae Cummings earned the win on the mound. She gave up 4 hits and three runs over 5 innings, striking out 7 and walking 4.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning. Reese Mersman earned her way on base with a walk. Ellie VandeGriend and Jaslene McWilliams both had singles to load up the bases. Next up was Keira Porte who singled, scoring Mersman. With bases still loaded Karina Mora hit a double to right center clearing the bases. Bri Blankespoor then hit a single, scoring Mora. Freshman Alexis Willis hit a solo homerun over centefield making it a 6-0 game.
Lee pushed back in the bottom of the 5th, however, the eagles held strong defensively and earned the win 6-3.
The eagles dropped game two to Byron Center 0-15. The Eagles struggled to keep up with Byron Center's offense, giving up 8 runs in the first inning. Rae Cummings started things off again on the mound. She gave up 5 hits, 5 earned runs, and 1 strikeout. Karina Mora also made an appearance on the mound. She gave up 2 hits and 3 earned runs.
At the plate the Eagles only collected 3 hits by Greta Holman, Jaslene McWilliams, and Karina Mora.

The Eagles dropped game one to Byron Center 2-18. Rae Cummings scored both runs. Top of the first, Cummings started things off at the plate, doubling to right center. She scored off the bat of Jaslene McWilliams hit to center field. Then in the top of the 3rd, Cummings hit another double to centerfield. Ellie VandeGriend hit a single to right field that brought Cummings in. In total the eagles tallied up 7 total hits in the first game. Each having 2 hits were Rae Cummings, Jaslsne McWilliams and keira Porte. Ellie VandeGriend had 1 hit.
At the plate Rae Cummings started things off. She gave up 7 hits and 1 strikeout. Jaslene McWilliams also pitched giving up 4 hits and 1 strikeout. Defensively the eagles struggled to capitalize on opportunities to get outs when needed.
The Eagles softball team had their season opener at home vs Forest Hills Central and got the win, 13-2. Sophomore Rae Garcia earned the win on the mound, holding FHC to only 1 hit and striking out 9 in 5 innings.
At the plate the Eagles racked up 13 hits, led by Rae going 3/4 with 2 singles and a double and scoring 3 times. Each having two hits were Brianna Blankespoor, Karina Mora, Keira Porte, and Ellie VandeGriend. Also having one hit each were Reese Mersman and Anna VanHeulen.
The Eagles took game two from FHC in three innings, 18-0. Sophomore Jaslene McWilliams earned the win on the mound with a no hitter and striking out 9 batters!
At the plate the Eagles bats were hot, collecting 12 hits. Rae Garcia led the team again with 3 hits, one of which being a triple that brought in 2 runs. Senior Anna VanHeulen also had 3 hits, one of them a double, and 3 RBIs. Ellie VandeGriend and Karina Mora each hit a triple to the fence. Also having one hit each were Brianna Blankespoor, Jaslene McWilliams, Keira Porte, and Addie Rodenhouse.
