The Eagles fall short in the State Finals 53 - 39 to Warren Lincoln

Eagles Lose: -

Tonight the Eagles were on the road at the Breslin Center for a State Finals Championship match up against the Warren Lincoln Abes. The final two teams left standing for a championship in division 2. The Eagles would come out in good fashion in the 1st quarter against the Abes winning that quarter 14 - 13. In the 2nd quarter, the Eagles would go back in forth with the Abes looking to create some seperation. The Abes would withstand the pressure and knock down a few 3 point shots to take a 25 -21 lead into halftime.

The Eagles would come out inspired in the 3rd quarter looking to find some offensive rhythm. The Eagles would  get a couple of early scores by Jaylan Ouwinga to help the cause. However, the Eagles would still be trailing in the quarter with the Abes being up 37 - 33. The Eagles would need a sense of urgency in the 4th quarter on offense and defense. The Eagles would struggle to find offense and just couldn't get enough defensive stop against the Abes. The Eagles would come up short in the championship game losing to the Warren Lincoln Abes 53 - 49. The Eagles had a great year and one of the best teams in the state. The Eagles finished the season 26 - 3.

Senior Jaylan Ouwinga would lead the Eagles with 16 points. Malachi Hooser would finish with 14 points in the game. Senior Nate Johnson chipped in with 9 points. The Eagle's season comes to an end unfortunately, but the team had an remarkable season.

Eagles get a big win over Chelsea at the Breslin Center 51 - 40

Tonight the Eagles were on the road at the Breslin Center for a state semi-finals match up against the Chelsea Bulldogs. Two of the top teams left in division 2. The Eagles would get off to a slow start playing with a lot of nervousness. Chelsea would win the low scoring 1st quarter 9 - 7. It would be a defensive battle early for both teams, but the Eagles would loosen up in the 2nd quarter and start to make shots. Chelsea would take a 21 -19 lead over the Eagles into halftime. 

The Eagles would make some halftime adjustment defensively to start the 3rd quarter and made things very difficult for the Bulldogs. The Eagles would make their run in the 3rd quarter scoring 17 points and holding the Bulldogs to 9 points finishing that quarter with a 36 - 30 lead. The Bulldogs could never find any offensive rhythm in the 3rd quarter and that would remain the same in the 4th quarter. The Eagles defense would come up big again in the 4th quarter, holding the Bulldogs to only 9 points. The Eagles would score 14 points in the 4th quarter to take home a semi-finals win over the Bulldogs 51 - 40. The Eagles defense was outstanding in this game once again.

Seniors Jaylan Ouwinga and Nate Johnson both would finish with 13 points apiece. Tyler Davis would finish with 10 points in the game. Seniors Carter Goodyke and Quintin Willis would chip in 6 points apiece. lead the Eagles tonight with 21 points. Tyler Davis would finish with 12 points. The Eagles will get a chance to play for a State Championship Saturday back at the Breslin Center vs Warren Lincoln at 6:45 p.m.

The Eagles win the Quarterfinals over the Catholic Central Cougars 57 - 52

Tonight the Eagles were on the road for a quarterfinals championship taking on the Catholic Central Cougars and Mr. Basketball Dural Brooks. The atmosphere was incredible with two of the top teams in the state. The Eagles would get off to a great start in the 1st quarter 16 - 9. The Eagles defense made it very tough for the Cougars to score. The 2nd quarter both teams would score 14 points apiece with the Eagles still taking a 30 - 23 lead into the half.  The Cougars would win the 3rd quarter 12 - 11. Turnovers would be the key for the Cougars success in the 3rd quarter. However, the Eagles would still hold on to a comfortable lead 41 - 35 to close out the quarter. The Eagles played a good 4th quater as a team with multiple guys stepping up. The Eagles would make some big free throws down the stretch and get some big stops defensively in the 4th quarter. Jaylan Ouwinga would finish with 9 blocks making his presents felt on the defensive end.  Nate Johnson would hit some big shots as well down the stretch in the 4th quarter.The Eagles get the win over the Cougars 57 - 52 to make their way to the Breslin Center.  Nate Johnson would lead the Eagles tonight with 18 points. Malachi Hooser would chip in with 12 points. Jaylan Ouwinga would finish with 10 points. Malachi Hooser chipped in with 10 points. Quintin Willis finished with 7 points.  The Eagles will take on the Chelsea Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Breslin Center.

Tonight the Eagles were on the road for a regional championship taking on the Benton Harbor Tigers. The atmosphere was electric with two of the top teams in the state and someone would have to lose. The Eagles would lose the 1st quarter to the Tigers 16 - 14. The Eagles would settle in the 2nd quarter defensively holding the Tigers 7 points while scoring 12 points.  The Eagles would win that quarter and taking a 26 - 23 lead at the half.  The Eagles would have a solid 3rd quarter. Both teams would finish the 3rd quarter scoring 15 points apiece but Eagles would win the quarter 41- 38.  Nate Johnson and Tyler Davis would have a big 4th quarter. The Eagles defense would take control in the 4th quarter holding the high scoring Tigers to 13 points. The Eagles would finish the quarter with 20 points and knocking down some big free throws to secure the win. The Eagles would put together a great 4th quarter to win a regional championship 61 - 51 over the Tigers.  Jaylan Ouwinga would lead the Eagles tonight with 15 points. Nate Johnson would chip in with 14 points. Tyler Davis would finish with 12 points. Malachi Hooser chipped in with 10 points. Eagles are regional Champs and move to 24-2 on the season. The Eagles will take on the Catholic Central Cougars on Tuesday.

The Eagles get another postseason win over the Holland Christian Maroons.  The Eagles's defense suffocated the Maroons in the 1st quarter. The Eagles would win the quarter 18 - 11. The Eagles defense would carry over to the 2nd quarter allowing Maroons 7 points in the quarter. The Eagles would take a 27 - 18 lead into the half.  The Eagles would make some adjustments defensively at halftime, but it would be there offense that got them going in the 3rd quarter. The Maroons would hit a couple of big three point shots in the 3rd quarter. However, the Eagles would score 21 points in the quarter allowing them to take a 48 - 32 point lead into the 4th quarter. The Eagles offense would come alive in the 2nd half.  The Eagles would put a lot of pressure on the Maroons going inside and attacking the basket. The Eagles were just to much in the 4th quarter with a balance attack and taking control to get the win 76 - 49 over the Maroons. Overall, the Eagles did a great job sharing the basketball and playing great team defense. The Eagles would have great balance scoring tonight. The Eagles were led by senior Jaylan Ouwinga's 24 points. Malachi Hooser would finished with 9 points while Nate Johnson and Quintin Willis both would add 8 points apiece. The Eagles will take on Benton Harbor on Thursday at Wayland high school. 
The Eagles sink the Sailors 52 - 49 to win a District Championship

What a great atmosphere, a sell out crowd at Unity Christian. The Eagles would take on South Christian Sailors for a district championship. The Eagles's defense suffocated the Sailors in the 1st quarter giving them a 17 - 11 lead to close out the quarter. The Eagles defense would carry over to the 2nd quarter allowing the Eagles to take a 28 - 23 lead into the half.  The Eagles would have a slow start in the 3rd quarter defensively allowing the Sailors to find some confidence. The Eagles would still take a 39 - 37 point lead to start the 4th quarter. Jaylan Ouwinga would foul out with about two minutes remaining in the game. The Eagles would rally as a team and pull together. The Eagles defense would get some critical stops against the Sailors in the 4th quarter. The Eagles would get some important defensive stops and make some important free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. The Eagles win the district championship over the Sailors 52 - 49. Overall, the Eagles did a great job sharing the basketball and playing great team defense. The Eagles win their 3rd straight district championship. The Eagles were led by senior Jaylan Ouwinga's 13 points. Carter Goodyke finished with 11 points while Nate Johnson added 10 points. The Eagles will take on Holland Christian on Tuesday at Wayland high school.

The Eagles get a district win over Grand River Prep. The 1st quarter the Eagles defense was stifling holding the Titans to 11 points and winning the quarter 19 - 11. The Eagles played well as a team offensively and defensively in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles would win the 2nd quarter 17 - 7 taking a halftime lead 36 - 18. Multiple Eagles would get a chance to contribute in the 1st half.  The Eagles would have a great 3rd quarter with their high intensity defense. The Eagles defense would set the tone and create offensive opportunities.  The Eagles win the 3rd quarter 68 - 36. The Eagles would continue to compete defensively holding the Titans to 13 points. In the 4th quarter, the Eagles's momentum would continue and help the Eagles get a 84 - 49 win over the Titans. This was a great team win for the Eagles allowing multiple Eagles to get into the scorebook. John Cassidy would make his debut after recovering from an injury and scored 4 points.     The Eagles were led by senior Nate Johnson's 17 points. Carl Thompson would add 13 points. Quintin Willis chipped in with 12 points. Jaylan Ouwinga  would finish with 11 points. Carter Goodyke added 8 points. The Eagles will be playing for a district championship against the South Christian Sailors Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Unity Christian.

The Eagles win their final home game over the Rangers. The Eagles are now Conference Champs. The 1st quarter the Eagles would lose to the Rangers 13 - 9. The Rangers would slow the game down making it tough for the Eagles  to find any offensive rhythm. The 2nd quarter would end with the Eagles scoring only 9 points. The Eagles played really good defensively in the 2nd quarter. The defense of the Eagles was stifling holding the Rangers to only 6 points but would still go in at halftime down 19 - 18.   The Eagles's offense would struggle in the 3rd quarter only scoring 6 points.The Eagles's tough defense would continue in the 4th quarter holding the Rangers to only 9 points. The Eagles offense would come alive in the 4th quarter scoring 18 points to get another conference win at home 42 - 38 over the Rangers. The Eagles tough defense was the answer to another victory. The Eagles were led by senior Nate Johnson 15 points. Malachi Hooser chipped in with 7 points while Quintin Willis would finish with 6 points.  Eagles finished the season 20 - 2 and win the OK-White Conference Championship.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles get another conference home win on senior night over the Red Arrows. The Eagles would have nine seniors being recognized before tip-off. Several Eagles would sit this game out due to sickness. However, the 1st quarter the Eagles would battle the Red Arrows winning the quarter 17 - 14. The Eagles played well as a team offensively and defensively in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles would win the 2nd quarter 20 - 14 taking a halftime lead 37 - 28. Multiple Eagles would get a chance to contribute in the 1st half.  The Eagles went with a different lineup to start the 2nd half.  The Eagles had a slow start on offense to open up the 3rd quarter. The Eagles would give up a some 3's allowing the Red Arrows to cut into the deficit. The Eagles would close the quarter leading 45 - 41. The Eagles would have to execute down the stretch in the 4th quarter to get another conference win at home 61 - 58 over the Red Arrows.   The Eagles were led by senior Nate Johnson's 17 points. Tyler Davis had 12 points. Malachi Hooser chipped in with 10 points. Quintin Willis and Carter Goodyke both had 8 points apiece.  Eagles moved to 19 - 2 on the season. The Eagles will be home for their final regular season game Friday against the Forest Hills Central Rangers.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles were on the road to take on the Forest Hills Huskies. The Eagles's offense got off to a hot start jumping out to a 16 - 5 lead in the 1st quarter. The Eagles defense would be a problem for the Huskies all night.  In the 2nd quarter, the Eagles would take a 27 - 11 lead into halftime. The Eagles defense has been off the chart the last three games. In the 2nd half, the Eagles would continue to put on a defensive clinic. The Huskies couldn't find any offensive rhythm in the 1st half and that would continue. The Eagles would go on a 16 - 5 run to start the 3rd quarter. They would take a 42 - 16 lead into the 4th quarter. The Eagles would play an even 4th quarter with both teams scoring eleven points, however the Eagles would get another conference win on the road with a 53 - 27 over the Huskies.  The Eagles were led by senior Quintin Willis's 11 points. Senior Jaylan Ouwinga chipped in with 10 points. Nate Johnson and Tyler Davis both finished with 8 points apiece. Carter Goodyke and Malachi Hooser both finished with 6 points apiece. The Eagles move to 17 - 2 on the season!
Eagles move to into 1st place with a win over the Northview Wildcats 46 - 42

Tonight the Eagles were on the road for a conference showdown against the Northview Wildcats. This was a premier conference game in the OK-White. The Eagles would take a 10 - 7 point lead to close out the 1st quarter. The Eagles would fall behind in the 2nd quarter but would continue to compete. The Eagles just couldn't find any offensive flow. The Eagles would trail at the half to the Wildcats 22 - 17.  The Eagles would get off to a good start in 3rd quarter but couldn't get much separation from the Wildcats. The 3rd quarter would finish with the Wildcats leading 38 - 32. The Eagles would make some defensive adjustments to give the Wildcats some trouble. The Eagles defense and their pace would control the 4th quarter. The Eagles defense would dominate holding the Wildcats to only 4 points in the 4th quarter. The Eagles would score 14 points in the 4th quarter which would help them get the big win over the Wildcats 46 - 42. The Eagles defense and free throws would come up big in the 2nd half once again.  Malachi Hooser would lead the Eagles tonight with 17 points. Nate Johnson would finish with 10 points. Eagles get another great team win moving their record to 17 - 2 on the season. The Eagles will be back in action Friday at FHN at 7:00 p.m.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles get a needed conference win over the Pioneers.  In the1st quarter, the Eagles jump out to a 25 - 15 lead.  The Eagles found a good rhythm early offensively but struggled defending the Pioneers behind the arc. The Eagles would lose the 2nd quarter to the Pioneers but take a 37 - 30 point lead at the half.  The Eagles would continue to compete in the 3rd quarter early by playing good team basketball, this would allow them to take a 3rd quarter lead 52 - 46. The Eagles would get multiple contributions from the bench tonight. The Eagles defense would control the  4th quarter. This would lead to another great team win tonight beating the Pioneers 67 - 55.   The Eagles were led by seniors Malachi Hooser's and Nate Johnson both finishing with16 points apiece. Jaylan Ouwinga and Carter Goodkye both would finish with 9 points apiece. Eagles are back on the hardwood Wednesday at Northview at 7:00 p.m.  Eagles move to 16 - 2 on the season.

Tonight the Eagles were on the road at Calvin University to take on the Northview Wildcats. This was a premier conference game in the OK-White. The Eagles didn't disappoint taking a 13 - 11 point lead to close out the 1st quarter. The Eagles would be coming off a tough loss. The Eagles would have a solid 2nd quarter but would trail  by 1 point going into the half 25 - 24.  The Eagles would get off to a good start in 3rd quarter but couldn't get much separation from the Wildcats. The 3rd quarter would finish with the Wildcats leading 37 - 36. The Eagles would make some defensive adjustments to give the Wildcats some trouble. The Eagles defense and their pace would control the 4th quarter. The Eagles defense would dominate holding the Wildcats to only 18 points in the 2nd half. The Eagles would score 30 points in the 2nd half and get the big win over the Wildcats 54 - 43. The Eagles defense would come up big as it has all season. Jaylan Ouwinga would lead the Eagles tonight with 17 points. Nate Johnson would finish with 12 points. The Eagles would started off slow in the1st quarter against the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs would win the quarter 14 - 13. The Eagles would be coming off an emotional win against the Muskegon Big Reds. The Eagles never found an offensive rhythm in the 2nd quarter only scoring 3 points which would open up the Bulldogs lead at the half 24 - 16.   The Eagles would need to play with a sense of urgency in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles would play a solid 3rd quarter trying to close the gap but the Bulldogs would hang on to a 10 point lead going into the 4th quarter. The Eagles would pick up their defensive intensity in the 4th quarter. They would force the Bulldogs into some turnovers which would help the Eagles take the lead by 2 points. The Eagles would fight hard but the Bulldogs would hit a few tough shots to get the win 49 - 43. The Eagles were led by senior Nate Johnson's 11 points. Tyler Davis finished with 10 points. Malachi Hooser added 8 points. The Eagles will be on the road Friday at Calvin University to take on the Northview Wildcats at 8:00 p.m.

Tonight the Eagles were on the road at Aquinas College to take on the Muskegon Big Reds. This was the premier game of the 2K24 Showcase. The Eagles didn't disappoint taking a 22 - 11 point lead to close out the 1st quarter with their tough defense. The Eagles would be coming off a back to back game showing no sign of fatigue. The Eagles would have a solid 2nd quarter after taking a commanding lead. They would control that quarter by playing good team basketball and take a 35 - 24 lead into the locker room at the half.  The Eagles would find a good rhythm to start the 3rd quarter. They would make some defensive adjustments to give the Big Reds a different look. The Eagles defense and their pace would control the 3rd quarter and take a 43 - 36 lead into the 4th quarter. The Big Reds never got into a flow against the tough Eagles defense. The Eagles would take control in the 4th quarter knocking down some pressure free throws and getting a big win 60 - 51 over the Big Reds. Jaylan Ouwinga would lead the Eagles tonight with 21 points. Tyler Davis would finish with 12 points. Carter Goodyke would chip in with 8 points. Eagles get another great team win moving their record to 14 - 1 on the season.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles are still undefeated at home this season. They get another home win against the Greenville Yellowjackets.  In the1st quarter, the Eagles jump out to a 17 - 9 lead. The Eagles defense was great in the 1st quarter. The Eagles defense would set the tone early in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles would hold the Yellowjackets to 9 points and win that quarter scoring 19 points.  The Eagles defense would create turnovers in the 2nd quarter allowing the Eagles to take a 36 - 18 point lead at halftime. The Eagles would continue to compete in the 3rd quarter early by playing good team basketball. Grand Rapids Christian Eagles found a way to win a close game against the Grandville Bulldogs.  The 1st quarter was close with the Eagles winning the quarter by two points 6 - 4. The Eagles defense would set the tone early in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles would hold the Bulldogs to 9 points and win that quarter scoring 15 points. The Eagles struggled taking care of the ball in the first half but their defense was stifling. The Eagles would take a 21 - 13 point lead at halftime. The Eagles would continue to compete in the 3rd quarter but struggled to take care of the basketball. The Eagles would win the 3rd quarter taking a  35 - 26 lead.  Eagles would have a few defensive lapse allowing the Bulldogs to knock down a few threes to cut into the lead. Eagles would get a couple of defensive stops late in the 4th quarter and get the win over the Bulldogs 48 - 42.   The Eagles were led by senior Jaylan Ouwinga's 11points and 8 rebounds. Carter Goodyke and Nate Johnson both chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds apiece.  Malachi Hooser also chipped in with 9 points. Eagles are back on the hardwood Friday vs Greenville. Grand Rapids Christian Eagles get another conference road win over the Rangers. The 1st quarter would be close between Eagles and Rangers. The Eagles would win the quarter 16 - 12. The Eagles played well as a team offensively and defensively in the 2nd quarter. The defense of the Eagles was stifling holding the Rangers to only 7 points allowing them to take a halftime lead 27 - 19.   The Eagles's defense was flying around in the 3rd quarter limiting the Rangers to only 7 points.  The Eagles would win the 3rd quarter 39 - 27. The Eagles's tough defense would continue in the 4th quarter holding the Rangers to only 7 points to get another conference win on the road 52 - 34 over the Rangers. The Eagles tough defense was the answer to another victory. The Eagles were led by senior Quintin Willis's 13 points. Nate Johnson chipped in with11 points while Jaylan Ouwinga added 10 points. Malachi Hooser chipped in with 8 points.  Eagles moved to 11 - 1 on the season. The Eagles will be home on Tuesday vs the Grandville Bulldogs.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles get another conference road win over the Red Arrows. Senior Jaylan Ouwinga would sit this game out due to a health issue. The 1st quarter the Eagles defense was stifling holding the Red Arrows to 7 points and winning the quarter 15 - 7. The Eagles played well as a team offensively and defensively in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles would win the 2nd quarter 22 - 12 taking a halftime lead 39 - 19. Multiple Eagles would get a chance to play in the 1st half.  The Eagles went with a different lineup to start the 2nd half.  The Eagles had a slow start on offense to open up the 3rd quarter. The Eagles would give up a some 3's allowing the Red Arrows to cut into the deficit but still leading 50 - 35. The Eagles would finish the 4th quarter on a strong note to get another conference win on the road 68 - 49 over the Red Arrows.   The Eagles were led by senior Nate Johnson's 20 points. Carter Goodyke had 10 points. Malachi Hooser chipped in with 9 points and Quintin Willis had 7 points.  Eagles moved to 10 - 1 on the season. What a great atmosphere at the East Kentwood Gottagetit Hoop Classic.  Two of the top teams in the state going head to head. In the1st quarter, the Eagles would come out a little slow. The Eagles would have a difficult time finding a rhythm turning the ball over several times in the 1st quarter. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Eagles would be down 14 - 10. The Eagles would have a solid 2nd quarter against the Abes closing out the half down 27 - 26.  Eagles would come with a sense of urgency in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles would play their best quarter of the game. The Eagles outscored the Abes 16 - 12 to take a 42 - 40 lead to start the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter would come down to the wire. Both teams were struggling to find a way to score with every score being big. The Eagles would take a one point lead 47 - 46 into the final seconds. The Abes would hit three point buzzer beater with no time left on the clock to give the Eagles their first loss of the season 47 - 49. The Eagles were led by senior Carter Goodyke's 14 points. Jaylan Ouwinga finished with 8 points. Nate Johnson added 7 points and Tyler Davis finished with 6 points. The Eagles will be on the road Tuesday to play the Lowell Red Arrows. The Eagles move to 9-1 on the season.

What a great atmosphere at Grand Rapids Christian High School for the boy's basketball 2nd game of the season versus the Forest Hills Northern Huskies. The Eagles's offense got off to a hot start jumping out to a 12 point lead. The problem was the Eagles defense giving up 16 points in the 1st quarter and 2nd quarter. The Eagles would still take a 39 - 32 lead into halftime. The Eagles would have their worst defense of half of the season.  In the 2nd half, the Eagles would regroup defensively. The Eagles would make some halftime adjustments causing the Huskies major problems on offense. The Eagles would go on a 21 - 7 run to start the 3rd quarter taking a 60 - 39 point lead into the 4th quarter. The Eagles defense continued to cause problems in the 4th quarter for the Huskies. The Eagles would go run in the 4th quarter and closeout the game with a score of 76 - 49. Overall, the Eagles did a great job sharing the basketball which lead to balance team scoring. The Eagles had multiple players in double figures making them hard to defend. The Eagles have a lot of versatile players that can make plays on both sides of the ball.  The Eagles were led by senior Nate Johnson's 18 points. Seniors Jaylan Ouwinga and Malachi Hooser both chipped in with 12 points. Sophomore Carl Thompson finished with 11 points. Carter Goodyke and Quintin Willis both finished with 6 points apiece. Eagles are back on the hardwood Saturday vs Warren Lincoln at the East Kentwood Gottagetit Showcase. The Eagles move to 9 - 0 on the season!

The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles get their 3rd conference road win over the Pioneers. The 1st quarter the Eagles found a great rhythm after being off nearly two weeks. There wasn't a lot of rust offensively and  the defensive was tough. The Eagles defense held the Pioneers to only 7 points allowing them to close out the quarter 15-7. The defense continues to be the cornerstone for the Eagles success. The Eagles found a nice grove on both sides of the ball in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles would take a 30-19 point lead at halftime. The Eagles would start the second half mixing up different defense forcing the Pioneers into many turnovers. The Eagles would continue to compete in the 3rd quarter creating offensive opportunities off of their tough defense. The Eagles would win the 3rd quarter 45-29. The Eagles defense would continue to cause the Pioneers problems on offense. Eagles played well in the 4th quarter with tough defense and balance scoring getting them the win 62-32 over the Pioneers. Great team win for the Eagles. The Eagles were led by senior Malachi Hooser's 10 points. Sophomore Carl Thompson finished with 10 points Carter Goodyke and Nate Johnson both chipped in with 8 points apiece. The Eagles will be back on the hardwood Friday against Forest Hills Huskies.

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles get another conference road win over the Yellowjackets. The 1st quarter the Eagles defense was stifling holding the Yellowjackets to 8 points and winning the quarter 23 - 7. The Eagles struggled offensively and defensively in the 2nd quarter allowing the Yellowjackets to score 19 points in the quarter. However, the Eagles would take a 32 - 26 lead into halftime.  The Eagles would start the second half mixing up different defenses forcing the Yellowjackets  into many turnovers. The Eagles picked up their defensive pressure in the 3rd quarter creating offensive opportunities scoring 24 points to push the lead to 56 - 43. The Eagles defense would continue to cause the Yellowjackets problems in the 4th quarter. The Eagles would play good team basketball in the 4th quarter and get the win 70 - 57 on the road.  The Eagles were led by senior Jaylan Ouwinga's 13 points. Carl Thompson had 13 points. Nate Johnson chipped in with 12 points while Malachi Hooser finished with 11 points. Great to see the Eagles have multiple players in double figures. Eagles moved to 7 - 0 on the season.

The Eagles were in Detroit for the for the Motor City Roundball Classic to take on Detroit Western Cowboys. This was the premier game for Friday night. The Eagles got off to a slow start as they had to adapt to the full court pressing and trapping defense of the Cowboys. At the end of the 1st quarter, the score was tie 10 - 10.  The Eagles would go into halftime down 20 - 19  The Eagles would make some adjustments at half which helped them find a rhythm to start the 3rd quarter. The defense picked up allowing the Eagles to create offense and go on a run. The Eagles defense and their pace would control the game as they closed out the 3rd quarter up by 12 points. The Cowboys never got into a flow against the tough Eagles defense. The Eagles would control the 4th quarter and get the win 57 - 46. The Eagles move to 6-0 on the season. Nate Johnson finished with 17 points and receive MVP honors. Senior Carter Goodyke played well finishing with 11 points. Carl Thompson chipped in with 9 points. Seniors Jaylan Ouwinga and Quintin Willis both chipped in with 7 points apiece.

Tonight the Eagles were on the road at Cornerstone University to take on the Catholic Central Cougars. This was the premier game to kick off the Cornerstone Christmas Tournament. The Eagles didn't disappoint taking a 8 - 6 point lead to close out the 1st quarter. The Eagles defense would take over in the 2nd quarter creating easy fastbreak opportunties. The Eagles would go onto score 23 points in the 2nd quarter taking a halftime lead of  31 - 15 into the lockeroom. Great team defense in the first half by the Eagles.  The Eagles would find a good rhythm to start the 3rd quarter. The defense was in sink allowing the Eagles to take a  51 - 32 point lead going into the 4th quarter. The Eagles defense and their pace would control the game in the 4th quarter. The Cougars never got into a flow against the tough Eagles defense. The Eagles had a chance to get every player in the game tonight and get the win with a final score of 69 - 50 over the Cougars. The Eagles move to 5 - 0 on the season. Jaylan Ouwinga would lead the Eagles tonight with 23 points. Nate Johnson and Quintin Willis both chipped in with 11 points. Tyler Davis finished with 9 points. Senior Malachi Hooser did a great job leading the team tonight.

The Eagles defense would set the tone early in the 2nd quarter going on a 11 - 0 run to take a 22 - 15 halftime lead. The Eagles struggled taking care of the ball in the first half but their defense was stifling. The Bulldogs would start the second half mixing up different defense forcing the Eagles into many turnovers. The Eagles would continue to compete in the 3rd quarter creating offensive opportunities off of their tough defense. The Eagles would win the 3rd quarter 32 - 23. The Eagles defense would continue to cause the Bulldogs problems on offense. Eagles free-throw shooting and defense in the 4th quarter would help them get their first conference win on the road over the Bulldogs 45 - 34. It was a low scoring affair but the Eagles tough defense and balance scoring were the keys. The Eagles were on the road at Calvin University playing in the "The Invite" showcase. It was the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles vs the Hudsonville Eagles.  The Hudsonville Eagles would get off to a fast start but the GR Christian Eagles would fight back to end the 1st quarter down 14 - 13. The GR Christian Eagles defense would come alive holding the Hudsonville Eagles in the 2nd quarter to 9 points taking a 28 - 23 lead at halftime.  GR Christian Eagles came out and created to some early turnovers to start the 3rd quarter. This would set the tone for the GR Christian Eagles to take 43 - 35 lead to close out the 3rd quarter. The GR Eagles had to dig deep to find some energy in the 4th quarter after playing lastnight. The GR Christian would control the 4th quarter and go on to get the win vs the Hudsonville Eagles 60 - 50. The Eagles will move to 3 - 0 on the season. The Eagles balance scoring was junior Tyler Davis 13 points and Nate Johnson 11 points and Jaylan Ouwinga chipped in with 10 points. Sophomore Carl Thompson finished with 9 points. Eagles are back on the hardwood Friday vs the Byron Center Bulldogs.
Eagles gets their first road win against the Wyoming Wolves 58 - 53

Grand Rapids Christian Eagles were on the road vs the Wyoming Wolves.  The Eagles would get off to a fast start outscoring the Wolves 14 - 4 in the 1st quarter. The Eagles defense would set the tone early as they struggled to make shots. The Eagles would have a solid 2nd quarter against the Wolves closing out the half with 24 - 15 lead. Eagles big man Jaylan Ouwinga had to sit most of the first half with foul trouble. Eagles came passive in the second half with a few turnovers that lead to easy baskets for the Wolves. The Eagles would continue to fight to maintain a 40 - 36 lead going into the 4th quarter. The pace of the game was very fast at times making the Eagles play at a tempo that wasn't fitting to their style. The Wolves would knock down some big three point shots in the 4th quarter. The Eagles would weather the storm and close out the game with a 58 - 53 win over the Wolves on the road.  The Eagles were led by senior Malachi Hooser's 19 points. Quintin Willis finished with 12 points and Nate Johnson chipped in with10 points. Eagles are back on the hardwood Saturday vs the Hudsonville Eagles at Calvin University at 4:20 p.m.

What a great atmosphere at Grand Rapids Christian High School for the boy's basketball season opener versus the South Christian Sailors. The Eagles's defense suffocated the Sailors in the 1st quarter. The Eagles came out flying in with their suffocating defense. The defense created great offensive opportunities for the Eagles to score in the first half. Jaylan Ouwinga also helped set the tone by making his presence felt in the 1st quarter with 10 points and a monster dunk. The Eagles went into the half with a 28 - 25 lead. The Eagles defense got them going in the 2nd half holding the Sailors to 10 points and scoring 17 points. The Eagles defense was great in the second half making it very difficult for the Sailors to score. Overall, the Eagles did a great job sharing the basketball and playing great team defense. The Eagles had multiple players in double figures making them hard to defend. The Eagles have a lot of versatile players that can make plays on both sides of the ball. The Eagles get the win 58 - 48 tonight. The Eagles were led by senior Jaylan Ouwinga and Nate Johnson both with 16 points. Tyler Davis chipped in with 13 points and Malachi Hooser had 8 points to cap things off. Eagles are back on the hardwood Friday vs Wyoming Wolves on the road.
